Hey guys. Checking in from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley here. I'm a hammock camper and kayaker, but with some recent changes at work, I've found I don't have quite as much time to get out and camp. So after my father giving me crap for years now about being a bear burrito in the hammock (while he runs around in his 40 ft Longhorn 5th wheel), I've decided to take a different approach and go with a teardrop. All the beauties of real camping, but with a bed and already packed. I feel that this way, I can come home Friday, hook up, get to wherever, and be ready in no time even if it's dark when I get there. At least I'm hoping that's how it'll work.
I plan on going with a "hiker trailer" style camper on a 5x8 because I like that design and I think it'll give me the most room (I'm 6'2" 280lbs). Maybe later I'll go with the big tires and springs, but for now I'll be towing with a Ford ranger. I've already been given some supplies for my build, so hopefully I'll be getting this show on the road once I find a trailer (I'm trying to find a deal before I break down and buy the Ironton trailer).
I can't wait to start picking your brains and learning from everyone's experience!
