Regular (untempered) window glass is really bad to put in a trailer because it breaks rather easily and into sharp, deadly shards/blades. Tempered glass shatters in small, round shards but is pretty resistant to breaking in the first place. BUT laminated safety glass is far safer and tougher. It's what your car/truck window and windshield glass is. The larger the window in a trailer that bounces down roads, the more one needs laminated safety glass to keep it together. Laminated means it's got two layers of tempered glass with a really strong, stretchy, clear film gluing the two layers together."

I put vinyl shed windows in my first teardrop and Wylie windows in my 2nd build. Hands down I like the Wylie window best. The Wylie window can be open in the rain to vent humidity out. Big advantage. Plus they can be built for less cost. click to enlarge Heater installed
If you use a second panel screen you can use different insert. Like here a heater. Or a swamp cooler(AC?)
For a the glass you can use a glass cutting board(nice rounded edges) and low cost and frosted for privacy .

I was looking at windows that are tempered safety glass. The company began making them because so many people were using them in trailers. I'm looking at keeping them about 14x21, no largr. 2 of these and a fixed 12x12 in the side door.

I'm not familisr with Wylie windows. I'll check them out.

All the comments about safety glass, etc are completely true. You don't want shards of glass flying around if you get in an accident.

However, in a teardrop, no one is riding in it. And after you park it and get in, it's not likely that something would break the windows. After all, the windows in your bedroom at home are not safety glass.

so, with that ion mind, I did use shed windows in my tear. And I feel completely safe while sleeping in it.

Sam- Appreciate the input. I usef shed windows in a tiny house clone build. It was designed to be placed on a spot ans left there. They were great in that application. I've seen CTC builds across the web where shed windows were used, but I was looking for first hand information.

I bought a shed/playhouse jalousie window to match the old jalousie on the opposite side. The frames are aluminum. They are three pane crank out. I do not know if the glass is tempered. The small panes give some comfort even if the panes aren't tempered. Jalousie's 'shed' water when open. I like them. I like the retro look too.

I've been looking at vertical sliders. I like the jalousie windows, but I want windows that will fit between the wall ""studs" without cutting them.

What about using plexiglass sheets for windows? Have been thinking of cutting hole in the door and using thru bolts to secure a piece on both sides of the door. I wont have a need for it to open/slide, just use for extra light coming in.

I will be using plexiglass to make a hinged window for the back wall to help with ventilation with need and to serve as escape hatch of some sort.

Here's just one place to look for your jalousie windows (they refer to them as 'torque' style).
Check out the different styles and the come in differing sizes as well.

Hank - I just picked up 3 RV windows today 2 - 32 x 17, 1- 25 x 7. All three crank out. They need new screens, but for $30 for all 3, I can re-screen them.
