I will need to have my bed all the way to the ceiling while carrying the toys. It will then get dropped down to about 2 foot off the floor while in use. I will be using 1x2 square tubing for the frame with a thin plywood sheet then a foam mattress.

I am taking it with me to SC for New Years. Will be camping a few days at a hunting camp and going on a few group rides with my brothers and ladies.

Well,I have the bed built, but I have problems. The bed does go up, but it has to go up very evenly in all four corners or it will bind. The gas struts were too strong (100lbs each) and I bent one bringing the bed down. I am going to try 50lb. struts to see if that works better.
