Good to hear(?), you had a good trip. Next time you go for a ride when the temps are low,
put a section from your local newspaper inside your jacket. May not help the hands but it
sure will cut down on the windchill effects to "the core".

Hi Hank. I put my rain liner in to keep the wind from passing through the jacket.. It was my hands, as you guessed, that froze.

I decided to put a hand pump by the kitchen sink and connect to a 2.5 gallon drinking water jug I can fill at home (from the filter) and put under the sink. I'll post pics when I mount the hand pump and jug later this week. It is a PIA to carry drinking water jugs and pour them/put them away for coffee and etc.. I don't want to use my main tanks for drinking water and have to be concerned about sanitation. The 66 Gallons I carry is for flushing toilets, showers, and washing dishes... I can carry drinking water in jugs and just change them out under the sink when needed. Does anyone else do that?

Well, I take cases and cases of bottled water, for cooking and drinking. But I try to only fill tank with trusted city sources. So far I have only used tank water for shower and toilet, but you never know. So I always add a couple capfuls of Clorox when filling, just because,..

The new gas struts helped.. but it is still difficult to lift solo and keep even to prevent binding. I am going to hold off on the cable and etc. indefinitely. After a good use this week, the bed is at a great height from the ceiling for sleeping (wife approved), and I have a 5 foot clearance underneath for getting the bikes in and out... which I did just fine. Also, it is easy enough to bend down to walk under and get seated in the living area below... There really is no additional advantage for me to move the bed up and down that extra 2 feet with my configuration. The tracks are there in case I change my mind, but I am calling it done for now. Lastly (but an important consideration), the wife really likes it the way it is so she can jump up there and read and relax anytime she wants.

Another benefit is that I can have shelves on the wall over the bed for setting the glasses, Smart Phones, TV Remote, and etc.. at night. I could not do that with the bed moving into that area.

I can see where I'd have an issue if my trailer was less than 7.5 ft high inside... but the space really is usable and comfortable with leaving the loft static @ 5ft given the 7.5 ft. tall ceilings.

Sounds like the trip went well. You got out of SC just in time. We've had pouring rain for the last three days. It rained so much/so hard that bags of leaves that I raked last week and hadn't got to the street were floating in the back yard. Glad you made it home safe.

I may have to be adjusting my motorcycle mount if the guy selling this accepts my offer. I think it is a few inches longer than my Vulcan. We'll see...

Offer accepted... guess I need to move the chocks 4 inches forward. Bike being shipped from TN, so it will be a week before I can fit check. It also has mini-ape bars.. so I am concerned on height. I may change those in any case. Not a big fan of ape bars.

You got a new bike in days ! I've been trying for months to by those 2 broke down bikes. My boss promised to discuss it with his family members over New Years, and didn't. Said there was to much drama at New Years party.

Yes... it was quick.. Not quite a spontaneous purchase. I have been wanting a Victory Cruiser for a long time. I have just had other priorities with kids in college and etc.. It is not brand new, but 4 years newer than my Vulcan and a big upgrade. If the bike is as advertised when I receive it... I'll be very pleased with the deal made.

I also have riding coast to coast with nothing but the bike and some simple camping gear in the bags on my bucket list... and I think I'd be much better off on the Kingpin than the smaller Vulcan. If all goes well, I'll set off on that adventure in the summer of 2018. Then, of course, I'll come back and get the CTC and my better half.

I did my CTC to travel. But I don't have the financial ability too. If I wait to long I won't have the physical ability. Again I'm envious of you.

OK, now that I've pumped some sunshine up your butt, you gotta give up some info..
2012? Miles? Que Pasa with the pipe? Any other real mods, and no, apes DO NOT count as a mod...nuf said.

You are gonna really like this one, it's got some poop for sure. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe you can run mid grade pump gas, they are like 9:1 and under square so not so picky and prone to explosive top end failure, also 50deg takes some of that bone rattling "Milwaukie Vibrator" shake out at idle. You wont have to spend so much time looking for the parts that fall off. The only concern I can see is, that's a real pretty bike, and you don't really have a lot of ugly hangin' off of you either, so.....I don't know, we're gonna have to get ya a big ol' scar or bullet hole or something.... just sayin..
Now the scoot looks almost ready, 86 those apes, make sure they "chipped" it for that pipe, and Oh yeah, If you want to run up there with Screamin' Eagles you'll need one of these,

Big ol turbo HEAVY BREATHER...
BECAUSE MAKING A STEEL FRAMED AIR COOLED BRAWLER TWICE AS FAST IS ALWAYS A BAD IDEA;
but that's where the fun is. 160 hp, if you can use it...
I'll let you dwell on that for while before I get started with the whole "Mama likes the bed that way" thang..........

Hi McDave. It is a 2011 Kingpin with 9,500 miles on it. The pipes are Cobra 2 into 1. There are not any other Mods to the motor. Does the motor need to be chipped if the air box has not been changed? I thought that was only needed when both the exhaust and air are modified together? I'll have to look into that. Tx.

It is coming with bags, rear seat and backrest, and a Batwing fairing. They are all removable. I like to ride without all that stuff when I can. The Bags and rear seat are for the Mrs.. I am going to try the Apes... most likely will dump them however.. I don't feel like I have as good of control with those in most cases.

The Vulcan is a 2007 Custom. It is the 900CC engine. It was great for around town and commuting to work when I felt like riding, but a little small for 2 up riding and longer rides. It is on Craigslist for sale.

I have been looking at the Victory bikes for a while. I demo rode a few at Bike Week in Daytona a year or so back. I really like the lines and the motor on the Victory. That sold me. :-)

I am working out the shipping today. I'll post some pics when I get it in my driveway. Looking forward to that.

Not really sure on the victory, Harley you can access and tell it what equipment you installed. It knows the pipes made for that model and their flow characteristics. Just from the looks I'd say it's ok, they wanna "blue" on ya if they get lean. Not a problem here, but you can move a lot of air at sea level. Harley's are worked over in stages, usually depending on what you can afford at the time. Stage I big sucker air cleaner and pipes, Stage II cams, Stage III heads, Stage IV hi comp pistons/jugs, maybe stroked, big clutch. Gotta map it every time. By the time you get to NOS, it's a handful. But, that extra 30-50 ponies is a rush at 3500 in 3rd WOT, by the time you shift your well over 100 and pulling hard. HP in a bottle.
So, bat wing? I think you will like that. A little different dynamics and they don't really like oncoming Semi's on the 2 laners, but you learn to anticipate. Plus you can get some tunes and gadgets, less fatigue from taking that 80-90 mph air in the chest all day, gives you a little bubble of warmth at night in the hills. I don't wear a bucket so it's nice not to eat bugs all day.
You say you got bags? Hard bags I'm guessin'? Can't hardly live without em' any more. It's always something, you stop at the store etc., carry your leather, tools, H2o etc. Plus the ol' lady,...She's gotta have stuff, and always comes back with more stuff. The Indian has the leather bags, and it just looks cool without all that. Shows off those big ass fenders, but it never fails, you'll need to carry something as soon as you take em off.
Yep, probably months till the roads are clear, so if you play by the rules, a long wait. But a hardcore builds him a CTC so he can get on the right side of the Mason Dixon in a day or two. But when it's below Zero I hate to leave, stuff just wants to break all the time, and if your boiler goes out, you got about ten minutes to stabilize things before disaster. If it's just regular cold,+ 20's and 30's not so critical.
