Somewhere somebody is buying them up, hoping to make a killing in the future. To me that's not right. Buy use, as intended, life is short.

I got the bike tonight and it is in my garage. As you can see, I have not put away the Christmas Decorations yet. :-)

This weekend I will see how this fits in the CTC and get the chock set for it. The batwing, bags, and rear seat all just snap off easily. I'll be taking all that off unless the Mrs. is on board or I am going on a road trip. I like the bike without all the stuff on it. The mini apes actually feel good. Going to keep them. The ergonomics for my long arms seem good. A long trip will tell.

Looks like I may be going to Laconia Bike week in New Hampshire in June. My brothers want to go and it is only an hour from the in-laws in Massachusetts. I'll pull the CTC up and we'll get to visit with them also. My brothers will take a motorhome and pull the bikes in a cargo trailer like they do.

Those bars don't look that bad. The ratio from seat to handlebars looks lower than my Intruder had. How many miles did you get on it first day? It would be parked for 3 more months here

flboy, Howdy;

Nice lookin' bike. My question is how much of the rear fender is storage ? May just be the photo angle...

Good lookin' scoot, I mean really nice! But yes, The bags and fairing don't really add anything as far as looks for that one...
But thats IMHO. Gonna look hot sittin' in front of that new trailer...
Laconia, eh? That's one of the biggest rally's going. Should be a good time. Let me know if you want to trade off a shirt, I'll be at Sturgis and Red lodge Ironhorse Rodeo for sure and who knows where else?? Long sleeve XL if you are interested in a swap.
Congratulations,

I think I like the bars also. The bars look good and fit me well. No too many miles first day. Just around the block. I have to check a few things out. Tonight I bled the rear brakes to get them to firm up and then I replaced the battery. Drove it down to the gas station. If it does not rain tomorrow AM, I'll be riding to work.

It is the camera angle somewhat, but the fenders are large and very "Indian" like. I like the look. Here's what it looks like undressed: I couldn't wait to undress it.

Thanks Dave. If we actually go... I will take you up on the T-Shirt swap. Wife is telling me we have something we have to do that week, but it could change. If it doesn't, she is open to go to Sturgis... so I may just see you there if Loconia falls through.

Even better. You would love riding the Black Hills and Custer Park, Sundance and Devil's Tower, Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon...There is a lot to see and ride. The "People Watching" is pretty wild as well. I'll Probably stay at Glencoe Campground again. If you are interested, it's a little cheaper to buy in advance, but I never have. Just be warned, This is an Adult Campground, and you will see some stuff.. just sayin' Buffalo Chip and the rest are about the same but a younger crowd, and Glencoe has trees and grass and streams and you can avoid the circus if you want to.
But Hell yes, come on up. Good times will be had. Keep in touch on that.

I put 60 miles on the Kingpin today. Went to breakfast with my brother. The bike cruises great. There is a strange vibration as the motor passes through 2200 RPM.. It resonates with the gas tank to create a buzzing noise. It does it in any gear and neutral. I can quiet it by placing my hand on the gas tank... must be something loose somewhere? It drives me nuts.. I am not use to the big American cruisers and all the transmission clunking and vibrations.

I'll have the CTC in the driveway next weekend as I start to prepare for my camping trip to Ocala with Tommy. I'll fit check the Kingpin then. I also have a few things to install such as the drinking water hand pump and some shelving.. Work for next weekend.

This is the last of the motorcycle... I'll return the channel to normal programming. :D :D

I did get a good pic in the sunlight as it sat in the driveway.

Hey Don, I know this is going back quite a ways in your build, but do you have a source for the small fan you put in your bathroom.

Thanks, Darin

Darin, Here you go. I hope this helps. Having used this a few times now specifically in the bathroom, I can say it works well. It keeps the steam from the shower vented well. It pulls about 200CFM so it does the job as a bathroom exhaust fan. Install was easy also. You just need a round hole and a small piece of 1/2" plywood to bond to the interior of of the ceiling to provide good support. I think my thread showed some pics as you may have already seen.

Hey Don,
On your bike the battery is located in front of the engine in the cowling, correct? In between the cowling and the engine you should see a black plastic shield that covers some wiring and the battery cables. This shield is not screwed down. Underneath the side of the shield that faces the engine there should be a couple of little rubber nubs. These nubs are there to keep the shield from vibrating, check to see they are there and intact. If missing stuff a rag or something in there and start it up and check for noise or change. Did you say you replaced the battery?

The battery on the Kingpin is located behind the left side panel below the seat. I'll need to pull that gas tank to check/replace the air filter in any case on this beast. I'll check out all the mounts and torques as I reassemble. Something is resonating at ~2200 to 2300 RPM and I can interrupt it by placing my hand on the tank with slight pressure.

I guess in the back of my head I am thinking a motor bearing issue of some sort, but I am told these Freedom 106 motors are rock solid and this only has ~9,500 miles on it with regular oil changes. In fact, some have told me don't worry about it and ride it like I stole it that this is normal stuff. I didn't hear it with the Batwing on the forks ... but that would change the mechanical loading and possibly interrupt.

I don't feel anything noticeable on the motor itself as it goes through the 2200 RPM range.. But as you know from working on airplanes... that is how harmonics and resonate vibrations work... I'll figure it out.. I am certifying some hardware at work for the windmilling frequency spectrum of a particular Jet Turbine Engine.. talk about the details!

Alright Ace, couple quick thoughts...
I would find it almost impossible to believe that this is related to an internal engine issue.....almost..
Ever heard of a compensator? On Harley's there is a device attached to the crank that holds the primary drive sprocket and rotor on, it helps take the jerk out when accell/decelerating, and it gives the starter about a half rev head start before the load of the crank, pistons, compression etc. are applied to the starter. A 2 1/4" nut torqued to 200 ftlbs... That's right 200 ftlbs... holds all this on to the crank. It is threaded so the torque of the engine wants to tighten the nut when accelerating.
Last May after the thaw came, we were out bar hopping just a day or so before the Bucking Horse Sale and I thought I was hearing/feeling something different. Next morning we were out making noise and scaring the tourist and I looked down and the volts dropped off. I did about a thousand math equations in less than 5 sec. and looked back down, 14 vdc. Still drunk?
Not really, so we pulled up at the bar and had an eye opener. Couple hours later we took off, all normal. Later that night we were sneakin down the alley going downtown to avoid all the cops who were in town for the Rodeo, and I heard it again. Looked down, 11.5 vdc, dim headlight. Well I chased that ghost around for 2 weeks, regulator, battery, wiring, relays all check good, voltage comes and goes. Turns out compensator nut backed off and was rubbing inside primary cover, making a nice clean, new, bright 2 1/4" connection to ground, that the electrons found a much easier path than having to go through stator coils and regulator and wiring/loads to make it back to battery neg. When you torque engine, nut would tighten enough to make air gap and volts came back, decelerate/engine brake, nut would loosen making contact w/ground, no charging.
The point of all that is this, Weird sh*t happens. I'm not sure how that applies to your situation, but I feel better.
Also, 2200 rpms is lugging that engine IMHO. Keep her wound a bit higher and ride more aggressive, use that pipe to let people know you're coming, power starts coming on around 3000.
Lastly, are you DoD? You don't have to answer that..
Anyways, if you need some help or bad ideas, you know where to find me.
