Hoosier Chapter Gathering 2018 - Raccoon Lake SRA

Dan and I visited "Raccoon Lake" today.

Our Spring gathering will be at this campground in May (17-19) 2018

Sites will be reserve-able starting November 2017.

Our gathering will be in the area between sites shown on the map. The Pitch in and the Friday night "wine & Cheese" will take place in the vicinity of sites #263-#264.

Friday 6:00 pm - "Wine & Cheese"
Saturday 6:00 pm - Pitch-In
Saturday at dark - Movie night TBD

Great lake for Kayak and Canoe as well as hiking.

Raccoon Lake Reservations

Our Chapter camped here about 8 years ago. Some might remember the awful thunder storm that rolled through the campground.

Some of the core group may remember this little guy.......

I met Vickie ( yes some ex's get along) at the vet clinic last night about 4pm. Thor had lost all his hearing and most of his sight after a seizure of some type. He spent a lot of time walking around in circles like he was trying to figure out where he was. Vickie had him trimmed and shampooed up he looked so clean and fluffy and he was decked out in his santa suit doggy coat. Big old ugly me sprung a bit of a leak when I first saw him. I had stolen some time away from the depot build to build a small doggie coffin for him and dug the hole up the hill at the farm next to Sadie's grave. I was expecting the event but some where some how I still found some tears remembering the hundreds of nights he had spent in the big blue recliner with me. He was headed to the pound when I found him eleven years ago. He had a good life and was loved and spoiled I know Vickie will miss him. We didn't get back to the farm until dark so we gathered and said our final goodbye by lantern light . I sealed him in the little coffin and buried him. Thor was a good puppy , goodbye little buddy !!!

Awwww so sorry but it sounds like you gave him release from pain and limitations plus a very nice burial. Will never forget how he could stand on his front feet with his back end in the air to pee. Only dog I’ve ever seen do that. RIP little Thor.
