Hi All
I've been a short time lurker and really never needed to ask question since there is so much info on these pages. But I would like to thank you all as I just finished a trailer as a gift to my wife. I had a lot of fun building it, but it took up a lot of room in my shop which was kinda a pain since I also make furniture full time.
I realized early on that these trailers are so personal, what one person thinks is a must have another has no use for.
I was initially interested in teardrops a while ago but decided not to start on one and was looking for an interesting old trailer. I never found anything that fit close enough to what I wanted. One day picking up material for a work project I bought most of the plywood I needed and jumped right in. I knew I couldn't hide the thing so I showed to my wife who was left speechless and very happy.
Tok about three months to build, the wood work for the body went really fast since I have the tools and knowledge. The rest took some time pondering designs and saving up money.
The body is skeletonized baltic birch and freedom ply underlayment. Got the windows from a rv salvage place and SAF had a great price on surplus sheet.
The big thing was the trailer looked at the ones tractor supply had and the aluminum northerntool ones and found they would cost more than building my own that would be exactly what I wanted. Ordered a dexter torsion axle and away I went .
so thanks for the help and support.
Tom
