We did not do Moki - it was our last day and were ready to head straight for home with little drama. Let me know what places you were interested in and I'll do my best.

By your user name I take it you go out and shoot? If so what? Since we moved here 3.5 years ago I still haven't unpacked my shooting stuff, guns are in the safe but things like magazines are still packed. I've been to Ben Avery and Rio Salado a few times to attempt to bust some clays. I
really need to get out more.

My edc is a SA 1911 RO Compact, since moving back to the valley from Safford it's just Caswells for staying current.





Kids are growing up, it's one of the few things that is a guaranteed date though!





I'm kinda weird: AR15 pistol, M&P AR15-22, BT99 for trap (but haven't shot that in years). Used to be a trap fiend - way back when there was the Phoenix Trap & Skeet Club on Indian School/120th Ave or so. Shot the Spring Grand and other tournaments around the state. Did shoot the Grand when it was in Vandalia by the airport - That was pretty cool.

I think the park was so bloody crowded was because it was Easter weekend, rather than being in season. I was at Zion over Memorial Day weekend a couple years back, and the park and the adjacent town were insanely busy until early Monday evening.

I also went through a similar experience at Shenandoah National Park on another Memorial Day weekend. We got there on Sunday afternoon and camped overnight in a packed Big Meadows Campground. Monday evening the campground had a total of three occupied campsites - it was literally a howling wilderness. Similarly, I stayed in a different campground in Shenandoah on July 5 and the campground was about 2/3 empty.

Since it was such a wonderful trip with spectacular scenery... I'm almost embarrassed to ask you where you got those Beefy Wheel Chocks? Most everywhere around here have the thin, wimpy, wimpy, wimpy ones. Do you remember where you found 'em?

Those are the ones I use when I service the copper mines in eastern Arizona. I don't see them on the website of the place I got them from - but they have plenty of others:

Depending on where you're at - look for a place that sells industrial safety equipment like whips/flags, vests, MSHA/OSHA stuff.

(I was the Snap-On dealer in Globe-Safford-Morenci few years back - now I work for a company that helps them with the conveyors - love the view in those places!)



About 99% sure they don't have public tours anymore - ever since Freeport McMoRan took over Phelps Dodge, things have been different...



I'm guessing you know about the overlook north of Morenci heading towards Hannagan Meadow? That's about all that is available. On a side note, before you reach the overlook, on the west side of the road you see a graveyard for all the dump beds and other big equipment. If you park on the other side, where the pipe is - there's an old graveyard for the miners from the 1800's-early 1900's. You'll see stairs built over the pipe for access - the markers are pretty cool and unusual.

Very cool pic's. We did a long weekend camp trip into NM up to Alpine and down 191. We did spend some time at the lookout. Next time I'll look for the graveyard. I hear there is a big mine out in Bagdad, I have that on the bucket list.

IMHO - Bagdad is pretty much an "in and out" - the mine is the end of the road. There's no public overlook or anything (In the past I think they'd escort people past the main gate to a lookout - but again I'm not sure they do that anymore). Not my favorite property to work at - even driving thru the middle of it is very "eh" compared to Morenci.
