This past weekend we went camping with some friends in Kerrville less than 1 hour from our house. I get everything set up and crank on the A/C, about 5 minutes later the wife says it is still hot in here. So I go poking around on the thing turn it up, turn it down. I turn it off then back on again. Unplug it, plug it in directly to the shore power, Fan runs but it is not cool. The wife says I am not sleeping in that thing again with out A/C, I think to myself me either. So off to Wal-Mart we go they will have window unit’s right, and we needed to pick up supplies anyway. Get to Wally world do some shopping then I break off to find the A/Cs no luck I ask one guy in the paint area if they have any. He tells me they are in the garden area. Off I go to garden; the lady looks at me and says they are on the isle with the fans. I tell her I was just on the isle with the fans and no A/Cs. She says the ceiling fans (at this point I start to think of Ira’s adventures) so off I go. No, not by the ceiling fans there is light bulbs on one side and plumbing stuff on the other. I start thinking we are going to be here all night then I remember there is a Lowes in Kerrville look at the watch 8:55 pm Lowes closes at 9:00. So we ditch the cart and head to Lowes. We are about half way there I can see the clock showing 9:00 at that same time I look to my right and see Home Depot that beautiful orange building. As we enter the parking lot I get stuck behind a confused couple that can’t seem to find a good parking spot, there are only 3 cars in this lot mind you. This is the part of the story were I have better luck than Ira, I make it thru the door just as the guy is locking the doors, the other couple doesn’t make it in. I get the cheapy $89.00 -5,000btu unit and we are off to install it. The removal and installation of the new unit go fairly well, I get the whole thing done before 11:00 pm. We froze all that night but I was a happy camper. The next day we go visit our friends and he tells me that he went to Wal-Mart that morning to get fishing lures and he saw window units, but they were over by the chips near the grocery side of the Wal-Mart. Now I know I am a shlamazel.
