I scored this guy today at a library thrift store for $5. Model 513 with a date code of 12/69. It hardly looks used.

No, I suspected there was another peice from reading the instructions. It shows very little evidence of use. I'm guessing somebody cleaned out grandpa's garage.

I have a 1970 vintage 220 that i've not gotten fired up. I tried a few years ago, but then life and moving got in the way.

* I'll never find a 9/50 birthday lantern, nor a 9/61, to commemorate the lantern my grandmother bought for my Boy Scout adventures. Instead, I bought a brand new Northstar dual-fuel lantern in 2012. I've never fueled it up, nor used it, but it comes with me on all my trips anyway, just in case someone else lights one up (I've seen none used in my S.Central Group outings, yet).
* LED lanterns, rope lights, & flashlights have filled in for the lantern; I've plenty of batteries, inverter, and generator if needed, in lieu of firing up the white gas ( or unleaded) lantern, although nothing can replace the sound and smell of a Coleman in use. So, I guess the Coleman fever passed me by.

How do you tell the dates? I bought one yesterday at a church garage sale. It was 3.00 and there is a stamp on the bottom that reads 63.

that's probably the year. If you look on the other side of the bottom you'll see the month number. The logo often separates them.
