Home made removeable roof fan

On the maiden voyage it rained all weekend. I realized the need for a vent fan but didn't want one installed permanently. So I made this.
I took a 1/2 piece of oak ply and drilled holes for 8 20CFM computer fans. When I installed the vent trim it created a lip on the inside. I then cut a slot for the handle to go through. So to install I just plug it in slide it in to the lip, push it so the handle goes through the slot and turn the handle to lock it.
cost fans on ebay $20 switch from radio shack $3 ply scrap free = $23
It moves 160CFM and draws 1.03 amps.

Neet idea Steve, and I bet it moves the air pretty good. One question though, does it sound like a fan in eight channel stereo? :lol:

Actually it is pretty quiet. But you being in the same biz. You know I'm used to the hum anyway.
I did modify the switch with a couple resitors though. so it is 2 speed.

Just a regular on-off-on switch from radio shack. I added resistance to 1 on so it reduces voltage and runs half as fast.

You might be able to get dozens of these fans out of dead PSUs if you asked around computer repair shops.

Steve, I'm afraid I'm one of Darwin's throwbacks.... Can you explain in detail, with clear pictures how you wired the resistors on the switch?
