I am using the wide T-molding and seal that Frank diagrams on his site.
My questions for those of you that have experience with the Monroe plastic "living" hinges:
1. Are you still happy with it as far as durability, leak prevention, etc.?
2. Can it be mounted at a 45 as shown in diagram 1?
3. If the answer to #2 is yes, will I still need to create an offset by raising the body side? I assume yes, but I'm having a hard time thinking in 3 dimensions at the moment. It would depend I suppose on the width of the area where it bends - i.e., is it wide enough to bridge the offset?
The reason I am considering this option over the hurricane hinge is primarily cost differential (75% difference) but also that the plastic hinge would have to be less likely to leak in that it is a solid piece. However, if the durability is suspect I sure don't mind spending extra on the hurricane hinge.
Your help as always is greatly appreciated.
