I have been wanting a commercial camper top for years because of the doors in back and I started with wanting to do that waaaay back in the beginning but they were too expensive so then moved on to building a truck camper and then I found teardrops and it was all over haha. I am building a standy right now but have missed a few gatherings this season and needed an “insta-Camper” badly. These are usually white so I couldn't pass up this black one at $300. I think it looks pretty cool and the doors on the back are the key to this working comfortably as a camper until my standy is done. I am always buying rebuilder trailers so this will continue to earn it’s keep for when I go to pick one up that is far away and don't want to drive home the same day.
It has an aluminum rack that I removed and will paint black to match and reinstall so I can still haul lumber and plywood. So far I have cleaned up and added some vinyl peel and stick wall paper to the outside cabinets and done the same to the back side of the cabinets inside the camper. I just put down a sheet of foam insulation and a full size memory foam mattress and went around the edge with some brand new shag carpet cut offs that I had laying around. (This is what we mean by I will use that someday!!) I also removed the expanded metal window security stuff and it will not be going back on and added curtains in front and back. The windows let in alot of light and looks great while sitting in bed.
Future plans are to add an 110 inlet for campgrounds and a couple of outlets, a roof vent, and also cut into the backs of the cabinets and make doors so I can access them in and outside of the camper. On one side, I am going to add a side window that I have which is the same style as the back windows. Lastly I am going to insulate and finish out the ceiling and make some door panels. I already have a rear rack that I can strap down my cooler on the left and it will make for an entry “porch” on the right of it.
