What, SCCA doesn't have sedan classes any more?

Have a good day.

Wow! You just brought me back 25 (or more) years! My mom had a rabbit the same color when I was a kid. It was her first "new" car.

There are classes for whatever you can come up with.

Some pics, from our "regions" entrants.

Here is a little timeline. ( from when I baught it, to now. )

Noob, The gymkhana (parking lot races were very popular when I owned my '65 Shelby), but I haven't noticed if SCCA is still running local events. Boy, it sure was fun. Pump up (the Bias plys) tires to 40 psi and lower everything, take out all but a gallon of gas and have a ball..
We did it with our everyday cars cause that's what we did. I'll bet it's still a blast, although I haven't done it in a few years. The modern 4 & 6 bangers and modern suspension would walk all over our older (street cars. Technology is a wonderful thing. Gymkhana racing has been added to with drifting races. The FWD cars seem to be pretty good at this. About the only FWD racers we had (back in th day) was the Mini Cooper. Gage could help on this one.
One of my friends at work (in 1966), was champ in his class with his 4,000 lb Olds Station Wagon.

Ah that CSP Civic takes me back. That one is an earlier model than the one I had, probably an 84 or 85 carb'd version. That red STS Civic is what I have now, looks like the same year an 89. What the heck is Street Stock anyway. I think my Civic would fall into Street Mod because it has a twin cam swap.

SS is super stock.

Engine swaps with full interiors are usually SM, ( also the crazy "add on" turbo or supercharger class. ) engine swaps with gutted or stripped out interiors are one of the "mod" classes. ( like the 5.0L blue Volvo... kinda a bad exaple sinice it 2 different MFG's. )

Your only "out" is if you swap something from the same MFG & same body style... I don't think anyone does that.

Nope.
The rabbit isnt "safe" for a road race track.
You can not have a race seat in your car with out a roll cage.

It's a stock seat with stock seat belts. ( no cage ) OR a race seat with proper belts and a cage.

I have done a couple of "parade laps" @ beaver run, a "track day" @ Nelson ledges. ALL in the '04 jetta wagon. LOL

I maybe going/entering in a NASA HPDE @ Mid ohio... again with the wagon.

Want to make a bet? Well, back in the 60's and early 70's almost anything went if you didn't get caught. I use to get my engine torn down about 3 to 4 time a year. They never found anything and I would say thank you very much for saving me some money. I would tear my engine down after every Salom anyways. When it came to 1300cc VW's, they just didn't know what to look for. They just knew I wasn't suppose to beat Mini's, Renault Gordini's or Ford Anglia's just to name a couple.

Those were the good old days. Have a good day.

My wife moved all my albums some where. As soon as I find them I'll post a picture of my Salom car.

Too many Honda guys out there know that a twin cam wasn't offered before 2000 and never in a hatchback. So a 1989 Hatchback would be a hard sell. It looks totally stock, the untrained eye would never catch it. It was a total bolt in affair, trans, motor mounts, etc. just bolted on. No motor mount kit required.

Speaking of Gymkana, have you seen this clip? It should get Lenny (McTeardrops) pumped about his 7. This dude is awesome!
