Your only "out" is if you swap something from the same MFG & same body style... I don't think anyone does that.

Want to make a bet? Well, back in the 60's and early 70's almost anything went if you didn't get caught. I use to get my engine torn down about 3 to 4 time a year. They never found anything and I would say thank you very much for saving me some money. I would tear my engine down after every Salom anyways. When it came to 1300cc VW's, they just didn't know what to look for. They just knew I wasn't suppose to beat Mini's, Renault Gordini's or Ford Anglia's just to name a couple.

Those were the good old days. Have a good day.

My wife moved all my albums some where. As soon as I find them I'll post a picture of my Salom car.

Gage,

Thanks for the flash from the past, had a new '73 Renault Gordini, what a piece of crap  Also did the slalom in a rail buggy in the early 70's with a 1300cc.

Speaking of Gymkana, have you seen this clip? It should get Lenny (McTeardrops) pumped about his 7. This dude is awesome!

Nice run :applause: Looked like it had super 7 performance but rear tires and fenders of a regular 7. He had to have a real short shifter, nice.
Aw, I found a pic of my salom car. 1958 Canadian  VW. 1300cc, open intake, exhaust and wheels & tires. You could do anything you wanted to the inside the stock carburetor. 13" wheels with Goodyear Blue Streaks, 23" dia with a 9" foot print The car weighted just over 1300 lbs. My front fenders were pushed out an inch. Had 4 degs decamber in the rear and 1 1/2 degs in front. The way the supension was set up, I would lift the inside front wheel on most turns. It would squat in back for traction.

Have a good day.

Too many Honda guys out there know that a twin cam wasn't offered before 2000 and never in a hatchback. So a 1989 Hatchback would be a hard sell. It looks totally stock, the untrained eye would never catch it. It was a total bolt in affair, trans, motor mounts, etc. just bolted on. No motor mount kit required.

I'm sticking by my original statement ... People in my region don't care what you bring, unless you keep beating them and keep showing up. ( taking points away from the. )

They could never find anything so of course I was legal. At one big meet in Northern California one time the whole car was protested. I had to find pictures and information of a Canadian VW. Won the protest with good old Californis BS. The only car I couldn't beat when he ran was a Triumph Hearld that belong to a fellow club member. Under the body was a 1300cc spitfire. It was extremely fast and would get protested as much as me. When he decided to go road racing, he got himself a early Sptfire and then transfered the complete drive train and running gear from the Hearld to the Spitfire.

Have a good day.
