I highly considered a conventional, but honestly we opted for the extra storage space rather than the bulk of a furnace. It just didn't seem reasonable for the size of our camper. I like our ceramic heater, just for the size and the 1000 W output, which kept me a cozy 69 degrees all night in -10 degree temps. As long as I have electricity that is. But even so, it still has to sit on a counter or on the floor, which doesn't seem like a big deal, but again, it's something taking up space. Thanks to you guys, I've been watching a lot of videos about the Diesel heaters, which I do say I would prefer a propane version. But as someone else stated, those draw a lot of amps. From the videos I've been watching, once they are running the amp draw is minimal and the fuel consumption is amazing. Unless you are running it for a week, I'm not sure how it would be a problem. I want solar panels someday anyway. Looks like there has been a lot of success with the units and for $159.99 with a muffler and digital controls on Amazon, I think it may be the one for me. Here's a question though... Does anyone know if you can change the digital controls from C to F? Also, does the thermostat kick the unit off and on, or just hold it at the temp you set it at, if that makes sense?

Looks like i'm going with this unit. It's $159.99 shipped. Has the LCD controller which I like because it shows glow plug, fan and fuel pump operation. The kit also has a muffler and an air filter plus a splitter so I can run two outlet locations. The only thing I see lacking is a remote, but not a big deal for me.

Isn't that just how it works?! Ha, oh well, I've watched hours of YouTube on them now and joined a FB group so I could research all I could. I've seen minor issues but over all they look pretty good! Stay tuned... The Astroliner is getting a heater.

There's 2KW, 5 and 8. I'm going for 5. There's also 12V and 24V. There's an analog control and a digital. Also some have breathers and mufflers and some don't. I think this is the one for me

I read somewhere that it is recommended to run the heater on high to minimize internal soot buildup … 5k btu= 1,465 watts and 2k btu= 486 watts … so I am debating about buying a 2k btu unit if I can find one.

I notice that the photo you posted and the link both show two mufflers … probably not correct.

Not sure. But I saw someone who said they've run it a year with little to no soot build up by running it on high for the final 5 minutes of use.

yes, I have seen statements about running on high from time to time like that myself. I think the Webasto site says to run on high before each shutdown. FYI, I notice that there is only one unit left at the link you posted.

Definitely inside. I have a compartment under the dinette that wasn't used all season. Also a ton of space under the bed. I'll just vent and exhaust out the floor. Still debating about the tank though. Not crazy about bringing fuel inside to fill. Maybe a 3gal boat fuel tank that can be quick disconnect to take outside to fill maybe. Still thinking on that

You know, you need a couple muscle bicycles on a back rack, a couple Schwinn Stringrays or Sears Screamers come to mind, complete with stick shift and slicks.

In the back of my mind, someday, would like to build a retro rocket, early 60s, futura styled cruiser motorcycle complete with late 50s Cadillac rear fin and rocket
turn/ taillights. Jetsons style.
All in the same style, era as yours.
I dream of genie.... Yup, definitely got to have a genie in a bottle, with Barbara Eden popping out on demand.
