I forgot where I learned of this study but I believe it, I used to drink a few liter a day (wal-mart has a realllly cheap 3 liter bottle of soda for only around 56 cents) until a few months ago when I had to move out onto my own and got into some tight financial situation. Since then I've drank water all of the time and lost alot of the weight and have never felt better in only a few months.
I cut out soda and switched to water, and dropped 30 lbs very quickly. I still have much more to go, but it was a good start. I do indulge ever so often, maybe once a week or so. Most of that is the barley pop variety.
