Nice setup. I wonder if you set up and Take down yourself. I used a Clam Traveler this past winter which is 6 X 6 and it was a bit of a job packing away for one person.

Yes I do lug it and set it up by myself. It is large and with the walls floor and rain fly it is heavy. I think I will be leaving the floor home on most occasions so that will reduce the weight. This one is the Swiss Army Knife of shelters.

I figured I would start with the party sized room and get a second smaller one like you have for fast and light travel probably a model with detachable walls.

 Cosmo, your Clam Quickset Shelter video was well done. The shelter seems very functional. Almost luxurious.

 How and where do you transport the Clam shelter when you're on a camping trip? The MORE INFO page shows that the storage bag is 11.5" x 11.5" x 74". With its 6ft. 2in. length it may be awkward to pack and carry on a camping trip. It probably needs to be packed and transported inside a tow vehicle. Or (awkwardly?) inside the sleeping cabin area of a teardrop. How, and where, do/would you transport it when it is wet from rain?

This model is about 5.5 ft long packed
http://stores.clamoutdoors.com/quick-se ... veler.html

I transport it in the cargo area of the Subaru Outback.

The storage bag is waterproof and heavy duty (stands up to use but not abuse).

There are times gear has to be stowed in bags wet until the first opportunity to dry it out. That’s typical for all gear.

I went for the big model 12 feet wide. Because the removable roof sidewalls with windows and floor were what I wanted.

I agree my model is defiantly the luxury mode, but life is short… Clam makes a 9Ft 8Ft and 6Ft wide models that are shorter in length. I will probably get a second smaller model that travels easier. But I will look for a model with detachable sidewalls for sure. I figured I would start with the big one then get a smaller one for traveling light when I am alone or with one other person. Ya you can live in this thing.I did see a campground host at Assategue Island who was living in one for the summer. His was furnished!

I have to say the thing is constructed by people who know the outdoors. They did not cheap out at all on my model. This is not a thin fabric lightweight thing the backpacking companies are offering. It appears durable and well thought out.

If I can answer any specific questions I would be happy to help.

I am sure I will see many people out clam'ing very soon.

Aldi will be begin selling selling a 127" x 139" x 88" Gardenline Portable Pop-Up Gazebo for $99.99 on May 15th. They look similar to a Clam. It's an Aldi Find which means it's only available for a short time. There were no reviews I could find to judge its ease of use, quality or value. gardenline-portable-pop-up-gazebo

Thanks, owe you a beer or a glass of wine, dinner. We did not get our Aldi flyer this week, love our postman... Showed my wife the setup video and she was all for getting one until she saw the $569 price tag, then the Aldi ad. Aldi's is exactly the same thing and $108 with tax. Long deep search, looks like it is the same thing from China.

Kind of like our dog's cot. In the dog magazine it was $79 plus $15 for the cover. Walmart kids cot - $16.99 with the cover. Research them - both are from the same address but differ suite number - right next to each other in a Minnesota industrial park.

 Bill n Robi, Yesterday the Arroyo Grande, CA Aldi had two shelters similar to a Clam available for $99.99. They were in tall forest green storage bags. Hope you can buy one at an Aldi near you. I'd like to meet you two and enjoy a cold beverage or dinner together some day. Maybe at a gathering (you organize?) in the CA Eastern Sierra.

It was my first time shopping at Aldi. It's true you should not grocery shop on an empty stomach. I bought a basket full of staples and goodies for a very reasonable cost. I was tempted to buy a Clam knock off, but resisted the urge. Partly because the storage bag is too tall/long to easily store inside a teardrop. It (might?) fit inside my Subaru Forester with the back seat folded down.

Yep, got our's on Thursday - called the store locator and there were 9 at the CV store and 14 at another. Works just like the Clam video and I am sure it is from the same manufacturer. Yeah they have some good stuff,, only hate a price that is for the "family pack" in the ad but not stated. Meat is high quality, watch the ads for ham at 39 cents a pound, I get several for the smoker and use the honey "baked ham" recipe.....

Only issue I see with them is the size. Had to come home and measure to see if it would travel in the TD, truck bed is 5 foot and they are 6 foot. I brought it home crossways in the bed but that doesn't work for camping for us.

Sitting on pins and needles right now, have an offer out on one and they are waiting for the current offer to expire next week.

Might not get something organized before the fall but time will tell.
