After I got home I bought a Casita trailer on May 16th. Then the next sunday I was looking at the City of Rocks reservation sight ( I ain't paying no extra $10.60 to reserve a site ) and notice there are a whole mess of available sites for the first 3-4 days. Plus weather here turned wet. Had an inch of rain on Sunday alone. So on Monday May 20th I head up there with my new to me trailer for a shake down camp. It was muddy, it was wet but most important IT WAS ALL BUT DESERTED.



Woke up Tuesday morning to the sound of rain pitter patting on the trailer. It soon stopped and when I stuck my head out, it had stopped raining as it turned to snow.







Snowed/rained most of Tuesday and a bunch on Wednesday when I came home. Trailer kept me warm and dry.

I doubt if there was even 5 camping parties there the whole time and few other people visiting.

Funny that you should mention that. I bought one back in February. Texas is all State Park camping, so its nice to have that third necessity. It's too heavy for long trips in the Taco, though. Still shaking it down.

So what floor plan is yours? Mine's the 17' Freedom Deluxe. It's deluxe because potty & shower.

Those snow pics remind me of childhood in Pennsylvania. It seemed like the snow lasted into May, but it was probably the other "M" month, March.

Mine is also the 17' Freedom Deluxe. Just got back from the Twain and Tears. http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=71296Almost 800 miles of towing. Had to drive by temp gauge a few times. Was nice to have as I was still recovering from a bought of bronchitis. Had a place to hide while I hack up a lung. But both hold tanks sprung a leak on this trip.

They are nice. A little bit more room than a teardrop. I am going to make a narrow bed in mine as I do not need that whole dinette bed. That will make a bunch more room and easier to reach the rear window and the storage over the bed.

I haven't had that problem, yet, but it's only starting to act like summer down here. I definitely have to slow it down compared to the 'drop.

That's a great idea. I'll just let the GF sleep on the floor. Oh, wait. That wouldn't be such a good idea.

I'm gonna get a few short, local trips in this summer, and see how things go.

Mordor V4.0-Day 1

SW Idaho decides to join the Mordor V4.0 trip. Meeting up with trip planner and other adventurers we head into northern Utah to spend the next 4 days. Ride along with us as we travel the old Central Pacific rail bed 90 miles from Promotory, Utah to Lucin, Utah.

This trip includes attending the 150 year anniversary of the Golden Spike at Promotory, Utah, driving the old rail bed 90 miles west, stopping at old camps and towns along the way, as well as some extras. This part of Utah probably has not changed much since the time the rails were laid in 1869. It was remote then and still is. If you listen closely you might hear a lonesome whistle blow....

The greater the drive the better the destination.....

That camping spot on the side of the rail bed to me was the best spot on the whole trip.

Out in the middle of wide open country, only getting a cell signal if you stand in just the right place(if you really need it). Too bad its a long drive to get to it.

The wildlife at the first site was great and the views from the second site was great. Travel companions made the last site great. (root beer)
