What would it be?

Me--I always wanted to publish a comedy newspaper, kind of like The Onion but in print. I have all the skills to do it…writing, graphic arts production, etc.-- but I haven't had the bucks for the startup.

So what would you like to get into?

And no smartass responses like, "I'm 100% happy and content with what I'm doing now!"

Because if you think that doing road survey work for Baltimore is more fulfilling than operating a tropical cliffside restaurant on Maui, this thread is no place for you.
Here we go again!

Ira,

I'm pretty darn happy with what I'm doing now, but...

I would like to make a living from writing and taking pictures, though if I wrote a lot, that would mean I'd be cooped up inside...not so sure that I could get along without the great outdoors...

The grass is always greener... but yup, that's what I'd like.

Morning Ira!

This is a good question I have been thinking about for awhile now.

I quit my corner office, shirt and tie job to become a stay at home dad and I wouldn't change that for the world. At first I was trying to figure out what I got myself into and was a little over whelmed to say the least. Now it is pretty fun seeing what the next day is gonna bring. Yesturday was the 2 year olds first time going on the potty and also the first time saying her ABC's all the way A-Z even the "next time will you sing with me." After breakfast we go to the wadding pool at the city pool and tomorrow is zoo day. So you can't get much better than that and I wish everyone could experience this.

Now the problem! In about 2.5-3 years the Sugar Momma is going to start saying, " The kids are in school now and get off the teardrop website and go find a job." I have been thinking about way to still be the drop off and pickup from school and home for the summer vacation.

Option 1: Go back to school and become a Nurse. Could work part time and work when the wife is home. Kind of like 2nd shift and some weekends.

Option 2: Expand my Mobile bicycle repair business. Right now it is more of a hobby and things I do for my friends. My thought is someone calls I go over and either pick up the bike and take it with me or fix it on the spot. Also provide emergency road repair. If you blow a tire, break a spoke, or just anything in general call and I come and pick you up. The over head is low. I already have all the tools. I was even thinking about modifying a TD to be the mobile bike repair part. Make the kitchen a work area and the inside set up for oversized part and bicycle transporting. Plus it would be good publicity. Put my phone # and website on it.

As weird as it may sound I would like to be a corporate inspirational speaker. I love talking, I have a different sense of humor and I like traveling.

I once read a book about a photographer traveling around in an old jeep shooting wildlife pictures. Add a TD to the back of jeep, a close female friend, an old dog named Boo (Not Blue), the lottery jackpot so I could survive and I would be in heaven.

I love what I do but, having John Ratzenburger's job traveling the country doing the show " Made in America" would be a lot of fun. I have always been interested in how things are made. Of course I would have to tow my teardrop behind that huge motor home, and gut out the galley to mount a woodturning lathe, just for fun. :relaxing: Danny

I'd be racing stock cars in the Nascar Cup Series, in the twilight of my career... preparing to step into the announcer's booth.

Or....

Be a retired lotto winner, so I could spend more time with TDN and my kids.

Or...

Build custom wood strip boats and teardrops of course.

Or...

Move to Alaska and see what happens... :o

Or...

I could always become a bum... That would be low stress.

I guess if I could do whatever I wanted, it would be to own a boat landing/campground on a really pretty lake...hangout with everybody, fishin', campin' and pidlin' ...now that would be ideal......

My job is high stress, high profile...but I like it a lot.

When I retire, I sometimes joke about becoming a Walmart Greeter. No stress, no personnel issues, no politicians etc. Upon further thought, I think moving to South Florida near Ira, and getting a job at the Customer Service desk of the local Home Depot may carry even less responsibility. How much fun could it be to watch Ira turn different shades of red!!! and all you have to do is whip out your pocket notebook, doodle a bit, and pretend you care?

Sorry, Ira, but I'd do exactly what I'm doing...............except I'd make about 5 times as much money.

A good friends brother had the most ideal job,, or on the surface it seems to be perfect,,, He was one of three in a crew that took a 60' Hatteras fishing Salon to all the in-water boat shows all along the east and gulf coast,, They would do a show,, take a potential customer out for a spin,,, hall azz to the next show,, fish a bit, company credit cards,, clothes furnished,, meet a bunch of folks, and have a 2.5 mil hot rod fishing boat to live on,, the new models come out and ya trade it in and get the newest model in the fleet,,, no money down,,no worry about diesel prices etc etc.. now thats a bass boat,,, or if it paid any money I could become a professional tourist,,,

I thought about a giggalo but I am too old,,, and its hard to sell whats already being given away
