My 100% garage built teardrop

This is the edge detail I came up with for all of my cabinet doors. A 3/8 rabbet on both the doors and face frame. It was alot more work than just cutting a hole but it gives you a positive stop for the doors and holds them flush all the way around. I believe it was worth the extra effort.

I didn’t really show how I concealed all of my electrical wiring. I made the backsplash so it could hinge down. The Bach splash is made from 3/8 BB to keep it both stiff and light and mounted on self closing cabinet door hinges. This cavity will also be where I plan to run all the water and vent lines as well as the propane line to the water heater.

Nice build! Im wanting to build a squaredrop (Grasshpper) with a steel body frame like yours. Did you seal up the plywood before the skin? How did you attach the skin?

I did seal the plywood prior to skinning. I used polyurethane. Not sure if that’s the best or not but I figured better than nothing.
For the aluminum skin I used trempro caulk around the perimeter and the door openings. Then all the edge trim is caulked and screwed on all the way around.
Not sure if it’s the correct way but I think it turned out great.

My boss gave me a 16 gallon water tank that was left over from a sprinter build we did for him. Time to fabricate something to mount it under the trailer.

Ok. Here is what I came up with. A basic angle iron frame around the bottom of the water tank. The tank will be bolted up tight to the bottom of the trailer. I added a flat strap down the middle to help support the weight of a full tank.

Mounted under the trailer ready to run the fill, vent, drain, and supply lines. I still need all of the bulkhead fittings and the vent and fill cap. Time for a amazon order.

One thing I added that I think will be super convenient both while driving and at camp are some rock lights. I have 3 on each side and 1 in the back. The lights are wired into the 7way plug and turn on when the tow vehicle is put into reverse. Once at camp you unplug the trailer from the truck and plug it into the receptacle on the tongue box. You can then either turn on the rock lights or the running lights. Probably not needed but I think it will be neat.

How did you get the rock lights to come on when reversing? I just bought a third brake light with ‘cargo’ light. I would like that white light to come on when I back up.
