A diesel lets you pull a wider trailer because its better than gas.

A diesel will pull a heavier load up a slope easier and with less wear-n-tear then
a gas powered vehicle. Therefore less wear-n-tear upon the transmission as well.

So maybe you'd buy a diesel for those reasons.

My point is, how wide your trailer is will not cause you to change your TV type, nor vice versa.

I mean maybe if you're on the highway 50+ hours a week?

But for those averaging say 500-1000 miles between nice long stays, it's worth just driving a bit slower to get the extra space you need.

If you don't need the extra space, then of course you'd choose a narrower trailer, no matter what fuel the TV burns.

I'm with you, John. I get the advantages of a diesel overall, but I don't get the point of a gas/diesel argument within this context.

No regrets on my 8.5x7. It's a little unwiedly but at 28' tip to tip it's more about the length than the width.
The bogie wheels have paid for themselves.
The tow mirrors are a must at this width

What are the Bogie Wheels? Just another name for the tandem axle? How have they paid for themselves? Just curious to know what you mean. Thanks

In my neck of the woods they are the wheels put on the back of the trailer to keep the trailer from scraping the ground. They are also the little intermediate wheels on tracked machines like a cat or snowmobile.

Okay.. I got it...sounds like a good idea. My frame is the bogie wheel for now.. For some reason, gas stations and parking lots at some places will have short and rather steep transitions down to the roadway. In those cases I have dragged a few times. Just seems to knock off the surface rust.

Where could I find the bogie wheels in this case? I think I'd like to install some before I tear something up.

Yea, you can see one of the bogies in the image of the trailer/truck side by side. If you look at the bottom left corner, you can see the dropdown stand and to the right of it one of the bogie wheels.

Like you, it's typically gas stations where they come in handy. I've had the left one, maybe both, wheels of the trailer off the ground, pulling out of gas stations. The bogie rolled instead of dragging the bottom of the trailer across the road.
