Getting ready to convert.

It's hard to say, I did it more for the contents of the trailer than for the feel in towing. My trailer is a lot heavier (8x20) and I thought it would keep things from being bounced around as bad.

It does seem like it rides smoother, and I'm sure that it will help the tires wear better with more even pressure to the ground.

I did have to refabricate the top mount of the brackets in order to bring them closer to the frame to allow more clearance from the inside of the tire.

I feel like it was a worthy addition, and it was fairly easy to do.

So while im waiting to sell the TD (other projects have rudely stepped in front).
I'll ask more questions.

This one is ceiling materials and mounting.
What do you like or dont , tricks, ect ?

I think I'll go with something white since the walls will be grey carpet.

Hey Modstock,
I have a 6 x 12 x 6 toy hauler set up. The "galley" occupies the first 4 ft. The shower/toilet, sink ,microwave and fridge are against the drivers side wall and the counter/bench/ cabinet is along the nose wall. That leaves a 8ft. x 6ft. x 6ft. cargo/living/bedroom area. I used the carpet on the walls and ceiling and the diamond black vinyl flooring. It's been 4yrs or so and no complaints, still looks good. I used grey (granite) for the walls and taupe for the ceiling. Home depot had indoor outdoor area rugs that were 6 x 8 that worked perfect.

The ceiling is nice and light and I used some thin .25" foam over the rigid insulation then ran oak batons screwed into the roof spars to hold it up and keep it tight. The wood adds a little touch of class to the ceiling IMHO also added a hand rail to the walls with LEDs behind it for some indirect lighting...

I like the carpet ceiling.

While out walking around Lowe's, I checked out some carpet.
At work I have access to other carpets and such but I like this stuff.
Seems pretty tough and lightweight.

Also had some shower wall liner leftover. I've seen a guy on YouTube use this for the ceiling but the sticker says not to use in extreme temps like in a RV.

Last week I called a RV dealer in central Utah.
They quoted me $2,850 for a 5x10 V-nose with
Passenger man door
Rear barn doors
Electric brakes
Rear stabilizers

The spare was another $100 so I can find that somewhere else cheaper.

Been keeping an eye on classifieds for selling the teardrop. Looks like it's time to post an ad.

While Im debating the man door (I'll probably get it).

Something occurred to me about placing the window on that side.
I'll probably have to mount it in the door.
What would involve mounting the window in there ?
I'll insulate it too while im there.

Might as well have them install a RV door latch also.

On a side note. I'm gonna start drawing up some plans for the V-nose. Which will be our headboard
(Front of bed).
Maybe 2 cabinets for the upper part for clothes, ect.
And the lower section down near the bed will have a hidden swamp cooler and some cup holders, hooks, lights.

The bed will be raised with a pull out drawer towards the rear. More storage.

The man door in my trailer has rigid insulation sandwiched between the outer and inner skin. So installing a window, which I plan to do, will be super easy. Cut the hole insert the window. The only metal is the perimeter frame. So I won’t be cutting anything structural. The dealer wanted $200 in labor to install a window in the door. Shop guy told me it takes him 30 minutes.

I've seen some videos were they used a thick wood between the framework for support of the window. Screwed to the rails.
Maybe that technique could be done on the man door as well.
I found some play house windows that were flush and didn't stick out like others I've seen.

From the reports from a few that have done the install, most said if they were to do it again they'd have the factory
install it. Most experienced problems with door thickness and needing to shim the indoor side to make it work.
Might try try the Google Custom Search at the top of the page.

Thanks, that's all I needed to know on the latch. I would rather have a more professional looking install.

Yeah I ask a lot of questions but that's the point of this thread. Hopefully it becomes of use to others looking to "convert".

The factory did mine. It didn’t effect the price of the trailer. They said the hardware and labor for both systems were a wash. To have it added after the fact would’ve cost more.
