Quite a bit of progress today. Much doesn’t show, but it has been bugging me for a long time. First, the bolts that hold the rear ‘bumper’ had to be removed and countersunk so the rear doors would sit flat across them. The design has changed since they were put in and the doors will now be behind the bumper. There will be a 2x2 across the bottom of the bumper for the doors to sit on for support during travel. I also got the rest of the ugly seal/paint applied to the galley area.

The bed platform isn’t in place in this photo and the countertop has been removed.
Tomorrow, I hope to sand and varnish the redwood countertop and do some other tasks. The door that serves as the bed platform is back in place, since the insulation and paneling is in place under it. That gives me a better place to sit and work in the living space. I repaired what will become the front window too. The ONLY window I salvaged from the old 5th wheel trailer of a neighbor’s had been pried open and the frame bent. That took a LOT of fiddling to fix, but it I think it is going to work. There is a bit of cabinet work to do next to the bed and at the foot of the bed. ALL that space under the bed is for things like extra food, clothes, bedding, etc. The truck will carry any heavy items. I hope that the balance works out so that the batteries end up in the center of the back, under the countertop in the galley too. So far, the springs look good. Fingers crossed.
If all goes as planned, the ugly paint will be covered with a tan paint and the rest of the paneling and doors will be stained and varnished birch plywood. Should make a nice match with the carpet. I may even get crazy and paint the ceiling tan too.
