6 X 10 (V-nose) build

That a boy! Fingers crossed it'll fit in the shop.
That's a pretty big drop but whatever it takes. Tow vehicle and trailer should be level to slight nose down when towing. This keeps weight on the hitch and prevents the trailer from "bucking". I'll be looking to upgrade to brakes for my trailer soon too. Makes for less white knuckles in the mountains and rain/snow.

I tried out a 7- 1/2" drop. Since I do alot of dirt roads, I think this will do.
I can adjust the bags if I need.
Not liking the adjustable unit with all the extra unnecessary play. Plus it's really long. So I'll be ordering a one piece unit.

Also picked a trailer brake controller.
I know I'll have to run a blue wire back to the adapter for the brakes.

New lid is on. Looks like I'll have a few inches to clear. Pic # 1, 2 .
This swap went from 3-1/2" to 1- 1/4".

Also started mocking up my floor plan.

A queen size mattress will fit with 7.5" to spare. Which gave me an idea. A location for the spare along the wall there. Measurements are perfect.

My window location on the door side has changed. According to the paper stapled to the wall, it shows the framing inside. The window wont fit there but....I can move it farther back with no issues.

Just ordered the windows, should be here next week-ish .
A 14x21 for behind the man door and a slightly bigger 18x27 for the driver's side.

I think 9 sheets of insulation will be needed at least from my calculations.
We'll see about that.

Hopefully tear down should be in the next few weeks.
Luckily I have a sheet of Luann left over from the teardrop I can use somewhere also.

Kinda went on a shopping spree today.
Picked up a mounted spare tire, tire cover, some wire for the brake controller and hot to the 7-way plug, 20 amp breaker.

Then went to habitat for humanity re-store and grabbed 2 matching cabinets. One for the cooktop and the other for the V-nose to hang from the top.

Looked at insulation but that's gonna have to wait till next payday..
I'll have plenty to do till then.

Checked out some utility cabinets for the sink area. Need something a bit deeper to fit the water jugs, only they are too wide.

I have a neat idea where that spare sits.
I'll have 7 inches to use along the door wall so if I put the spare there I can make a small fold down shelf using piano hinge and the tire will hold it when folded down.


Still debating if Im going to ditch the 3/8" walls and go thinner. Gives ya something to screw into.

These seem really useful and easy to install. Pending on your off-road use, close to the axle might be a real simple place to put it.

Im always thinking of worst case scenario when changing a spare .
I.E. ;;;; )
2 lane road, blinding snow, cars speeding past you.
So easy access and quickness is a must.
I may change it and stash it under the bed one day.
Remember Christmas story?

My woman isn't liking the queen bed and would rather go a full but it still wont give room to walk on that side like she thinks.

Since I do upholstery for work. It's always best to have it too big and can cut off, than to have it too short.

Might stop into IKEA today to take some measurements on things, maybe get some other ideas as well.

I had this old mattress from the TD , so I put it in just to get an idea of how things fit.
Pic # 1.

Just by accident I moved the front cabinet and put it on its side by one of the water jugs.
To my surprise the jug seemed to look like it would fit...... and sure enough it did !
Also the sink looks like it'll fit too.
It ain't deep enough to hold both but I can punch out the backside and use luan on the side to cover it.
Awesome, one problem solved.

Went to IKEA, looked at some wall cabinets that I liked, then I came accross these storage lockers in the office section.
They looked alot lighter than the MDF board cabinets.
Other sizes available to look into.

Here's something you guy's might be interested in.
Looking at some handles for my woman, I saw these and they looked very similar to the rain gutters above the doors.
A nice alternative.

Hey Modstock,
I always enjoy the shopping and gathering phase. Easy to go overboard, but fun. As for the spare I mounted on the ramp. I needed the weight back there anyways and EZ access. I did need to brace ramp frame to mount it but no biggie. This is the style of mount I used.

Yeah, easy to go overboard. Gonna keep it basic for now. Next winter I can do some more to it like wood stove.
Taxes are coming soon. Things I still need to get are.

Insulation
Front cabinets
Bed built & mattress
Carpet for walls

Also have some vinyl flooring left over from our bathroom rebuild .

Windows showed up today.
Getting excited.

Did my taxes today. Basically broke even. I owed some and got back that amount from state and with the fee , it paid for that.

Went to get insulation. According to my measurements I think 9 sheets should do.

Boy that reflective side in the sun almost gave me a sunburn .

Reflective side out right ???

You kinda need to decide whether you want to reflect the radiation or heat away or back in. So, if you live in a cold climate and would be using a heater often then foil in. If you live in a warm sunny climate then foil out to reflect the radiant energy away from the cabin. Or, foil both sides if you camp when you need heat and camp when you need cooling. That's what I did also. In the mountains it can be 100f in the afternoon and 30's by sun up. High desert can be that way as well. But really, any insulation is better than none. I would guess ceilings and floors are priority over walls, but not sure of that. Stopping air infiltration is as important as reflecting radiant energy. So …..
