6 X 10 (V-nose) build

Considering that im carpeting the walls , I'll do reflective out.

Started teardown.
A pry bar, deadblow mallet and a screwgun made quick work .

There's those scotch-locks you all were talking about. They gotta go.

Im getting some eternabond tape to put over the seams. I'll have to silicone the ones on the framing.

I've noticed on some cargo builds the windows are up high. Is there a reason for this ?
Im mocking up a window tomorrow morning and possibly cutting the hole.

i set my windows on the 5x8 so that i can see outside while seated

In our 6x12 we had smaller windows. We set them up high to be able to see out when we were standing up and some seated in our higher chairs. It was also to limit others visibility in as we wanted to leave them open as much a possible. We took into consideration the usable real estate of the walls also. Windows in the middle limit the use of the wall for cabinets etc. Lower windows for us would have been covered by our fold up beds.

In our 7X16 we have much larger windows that we set as high as we could to maximize using the walls under. They are large enough that we can see out both sitting and standing. Love the larger windows. In this build our bed is only up to access storage under it, so it doesn't block the windows.

Fold up bed. I didn't think of that. We may have one in our future.

My window is a 18x27. I think I'll go down 6" from the top.

Really nice trailer, good size too, about the best compromise of size, space and tow-ability.

You mentioned a wood stove, the American company Fatsco Stoves builds some beautiful little cast iron and marine grade stainless steel stoves that burn charcoal, coal or wood.

These are significantly lower in price than other brands and need small clearence from walls or furniture.

These stoves are hugely appreciated by liveaboards on wooden boats because of their high output of dry heat.

One liveaboard travel trailer owner used her Fatsco Pet Stove to heat her 24 foot vintage trailer through winter.

The Pet Stove is 9.5 inches high, 6 inches in diameter and has an 8.5 inch lantern base.

If I appear enthusiastic about these little stoves it's because I am, I love my Pet Stove which I bought after seeing a photograph on Google.

Even with shipping, import duty and taxes to London, my stove was phenomenal value for the quality materials and construction.

So here's where im at on the build.
Taped wires to the side.
Used some roofing tape on the middle seam and siliconed the other two hidden behind the framing. Eternabond just barely came today. I'll use that up front.

Started insulation till I got to the window.

Made a frame for the window.
It attached with some "L" brackets to the framing.

Drew out the hole and cut it out.
Using electric shears is the best way to do this.
Tip;;;; tape top edge of cut to prevent it from falling after final cut.

Siliconed and installed the windows.
These windows are shed/playhouses (Safety glass) windows.
I saw these on a few YouTube vids.
So I called (Shed windows and more) in S.C. and asked if it would work for my build.
They told me they supply these windows to a few teardrop manufacturers and haven't had any problems. I said OK Sold. I'll take two.
These are flush mount 18x27 and 14x21. The small one will go on the door side. I have the "no grid" windows.

Moving right along there. Must have been good planning, no studs to cut. Interested to see how the windows perform. Are they affordable?

It is looking good. I like that window. How far apart are the wall studs and ceiling joists in this trailer? Seems like a big window for no studs to cut.

This wall was 22 - 3/4" in between the rails.
The others varied under that.
Yes they are affordable. I got both for almost $100 with shipping.

Today I finished the wires and insulation around the window. Even used some spray foam for a small gap .

Started putting up the wall and marked out the window hole. I'll be cutting that out tomorrow night.

Here's a pic of the outside. The window doesn't seem as big.

Wow! $100 for both shipped. That seems like a deal. Playhouse windows so it's safety glass. Correct? I can't see any reason that wouldn't work.

The wall is all back together. I decided to keep the 3/8" walls.
Cost and , rather keep the trailer tough were the reasons. I did ditch some of the trim, since the walls will be carpeted.

Glad I did though.
The windows are flush to it.

I may use some luan in the V-nose , depending on the cabinets.

Tried getting the front V-nose wall out but wouldn't budge. All the screws were out.
Turns out it has those reinforcement boards down at the bottom.
Pry bar'd it up and slid out easily.
