Hey Big Dave,
That reefer can operate on 120vac or Lp, but you must also provide continuous 12vdc to power the control. It wont cool on 12vdc only but will cool with 12vdc & LP, or 120vac & 12vdc. Either way you need 12vdc +

Thank you for the link. I’ll source the roof vent, and new wall vent. The one on the trailer was gone.

So in need propane, 12v battery power, and can run on 120v with 12v power.

I am going to get with my local trailer camping store and see what they have in stock, all of the pipe I ripped out of this trailer was copper line, see if that’s what I should put back in

Yea, the 12vdc is what runs the Control box, Should have been
on the backside of fridge. small Black box about 4" X 6" (?), right
near where the 120 outlet and plug where.

Did some checking, that fridge new is $1200-1500. Used on ebay starts at about 400+ shipping. The roof vent is about 25 and the side vent is around 40.
Ya did alright.

Now to decide to actually cut more holes in my roof

Laid out my kitchen plan last week on the floor, we have been fighting the cabinet shop to stay open but if it closes I can pull my trailer over and build in the shop and install as I build. Thinking I’ll stop fighting to keep it open this month

Not all RV fridges vent out the top, Some have double side vents
one for inlet air (lower), and another above the top of the fridge
to vent the heat. Generally it's done for slide-outs but can be done
anytime. Specs are in the manual in the (you guessed it), installation
section..

So I figured this one vented out the roof only off the removal of it, there was a vent on the roof. I think flybys trailer is vented on the side only. That the case I’ll gladly do that instead of another hole on the roof


That trailer coming apart was scary being only 2002 and how much water had gotten under the Rubber roof. Definitely made me think about how else to deal these trailers for longer life

Indicates that the 2 side vents require a fan to promote air movement.

Hey Big Dave,
Keep in mind that flboy's reefer is just a standard 120v compressor type. Not a LP reefer, so no exhaust gas issues to deal with. Just stick with Dometics install guidelines and you will be ok. As far as roof leaks, well everybody is in the same boat there. Any leak is a bad leak, so the solution is to install properly and seal properly and to inspect and correct regularly. These cargo trailers do seem to be less prone to leaking than some travel trailers but anytime you cut a hole there is another opportunity for a leak. On the plus side, you control the quality of the work being done, not somebody who doesn't care or will never see the trailer again. Also if you notice a leak, you can address it now where as the normal layperson would need a dealer/repair outfit so it may be put off or forgotten. As you know, "Rust never sleeps" so it pays to be vigilant.

The Vent on the side of my trailer is the Air Conditioner Exhaust. The Intake for the AC is on the Roof. Basically, I used Refrigerator vents to achieve an interior/Cabinet type install for a Window AC unit. It works great...

I do agree with McDave... you control the quality of the install... I would be not afraid to cut hole in the roof, just take your time and make sure you seal it properly and then maintain it. I have cut a few in mine and I had one leak due to hitting a tree branch with the VHF/UHF radio antenna and bending it back slightly to break a seal. My fault as I could see the antenna was bent.... but I did not climb up there to inspect as I should have. Easy fix nonetheless.

Had to put my build on hold for a little while. Spring weather means it’s time for a yard to get finished

Sprinklers, top soil, rake it flat, test sprinkles and hurry and wait for sod delivery on the 8th
