Having a Trailer makes it easier … Maybe ??? :NC

Have been hearing that seawater temps have been at record highs...which tends to fuel storm ferocity:

Jazz, aside from warmer waters , the odds are against us … 15 years since Katrina … We usually get one every few years , some not so bad, some “Killer” …If they say we have to evacuate , We have the FoamStream ready … Here’ it’s just a matter of time ... :o
Katrina kept us away from home for Five weeks while the city was closed … Without a Trailer it got pretty traumatic … People with trailers were pretty Comfortable and bothered nobody …. Lesson learned …!!!

Wow! Time flies! 15 years since Katrina? Seems like yesterday!

Nice feeling, knowing you have a plan, for this situation, should it arise.

That's great! And a huge PMF / Foamie Bonus is that they are 100% non-toxic.

I remember the Katrina trailer debacle, when all the "toxic tanks" were delivered to the area...

Jazz , I remember visiting friends in those stinky “poison pits “after Katrina … A friend with COPD had a handicapped trailer that stunk of Formaldehyde and chemicals , she died in that trailer a few weeks later … That’s when we learned to Hate Commercial trailer manufacturers … Crap trailer's that don’t last out their worthless warranty period without falling apart and rotting , BIg Prices, Bigger service prices … It’s a SCAM …

Foamies solved that problem!!!

Interesting!!

I worked in IT for many years and was involved in a company that took parts manuals and turned them into electronic catalogs via database, so that you could quickly find a part you needed if you knew the VIN or make/year/model.

A big customer of ours was the RV industry.

We came to understand a lot of things about the RV industry in our years dealing with them.

One "business model" that was constant....went like this:

An LLC was formed with x millions of dollars. A huge purchase of parts was made, to make x number of RV's. They would rent a building and hire the workers and pay them per unit produced. The more units you make in a day, the more money you made.

They quickly made as many RV's as the purchased parts supply allowed for. When the parts were done, no more assembly workers or factory (since it was a rented facility).

Now the sales force goes into action and sells those shiny new puppies.

An easy way to sell them is to promise a bumper to bumper 10 year warranty.

As soon as the last unit was sold. Goodbye sales force, goodbye LLC, your 'warranty' isn't worth the paper it was written on.

That is why you see so many "what brand is THAT?" RV's going down the road.

After actually owning an RV trailer , a Jayco Ultralight , we found out their warranty was useless as their "small print" always made the customer responsible for Everything … The trailer literally fell apart before the warranty was up, the company blamed me for not having more maintenance done , ( it was new eh :o ) … The whole thing was a complete loss , but a windfall for the dealer …the way it’s designed to be … I was out $15.000+ … I could have built 15 FoamStreams …

Naturally we joined some privately run RV forums ( non-factory). Where we found out the RV industry was designed like a big Money Pit … And really No one was happy about it save the RV manufacturers and Dealers perpetuating the scam on the public …

Katrina set a precedent , keeping a dying RV industry flush with new Cash , and for a hurried substandard product for which our beloved government paid them 5 times the normal price , Plus a ridiculous installation fee… Someone was “ Connected” (politically) and made many many MILLIONS in profit off others misery . ( isn’t that always the way)

I’ve told this story too many times …and knowing people in this business I have a general Loathing for them ALL …

And people ask why we built our own trailer ??? :R

Dear Foamlings , I posted this in the General discussion , but wanted to make SURE we all saw this … A simple disposable shop towel mask made from a Harbor Freight mask head strap and a couple alligator clips … Comfortable , adjustable … SIMPLE and “Thrifty” ... Works , still here so far ... I’ll be wearing “protection” as long as necessary …

Stay safe , build Foamies

Anticipating an above average season , we’ve started getting the FoamStream ready … A quick look showed no problems , just a little vacuuming , a good WASHING outside , and check the bearings and we should be ready … There appears to be no changes since last year … The drip edges have prevented any water problems … as they should !!! Once Cleaned we’ll hook it up and take a ride down the street … anticipation a longer ride later this summer … ( hopefully Not ) :NC
