I've been needing a shop chair and mentioned this to my CNC. The next thing I knew, it was spitting one out.

IMO, you're lucky to have the maken's in your kitchen! Shelly and I are trying to minimize our grocery visits, so we went a month before re-stocking Monday. I was resorting to lunches out of cans that were "best by" 2010, that I'd bought for camping trips years before we'd even met.

(That's not actually envy--I was feeling green, but not for that reason.)

You guessed it, the s’more was made with expired chocolate, stale marshmallows, and expired graham crackers. Best by Dec 3, 2019! I found them in a camping box in the basement and it’s been a long time since we were able to camp last.

Still, even a stale marshmallow browns right up over a gas stove and tastes almost as good!

Tony, one reason we got the house we did was the 4 car garage it came with. I'll have to do a tour of the house at some point, so you can see the inside of the building, as well. It was done in 1940, red brick & pretty solid. We were very fortunate to find Raton, the house, the lot, the garage, etc. We have enough room to host a small trailer gathering here, as the lot size is 7/8 of an acre, it's also commercially zoned! Not planning on a business, but if we wanted to at some point. At 6,500' we're just getting spring now...

I think I know which house you are speaking of (as we were looking in Raton, too). Couple of the garages had lifts' ?

So you like Raton? What area were you in previously?

Red brick on south 2nd street, but no, it's not the on on the road to Sugarite, the same family did that one in about 1970, but this is a different house. We really like Raton, the small town feel, friendly people, good weather, lots to see & do here as well. All in all, it's a very nice town to retire in for us.

We moved here from Tucson & are glad to have escaped the heat, crowding, border issues & general "bigness" Tucson has acquired over the last 50 years. It was time for a change.

Another 5160 blade (0.20" X 1.5" X 8.625" stock) in the "heavy" pattern due to the blade thickness & handle weight (241 grams, or about 8 ounces+). I'm using Tru-Oil gunstock finish for the Bocote this time, just to see how I like it compared to my usual Danish oil. Black & white liners to set off the steel on this one & add a bit of contrast. These are a new batch of blades, just back from my heat treater in Washington state. They were run at about HRC 59-60, so they're fairly hard & very tough. The 5160 spring steel doesn't make a lot of carbides in heat treat, like the higher alloy steels (not as much chromium & other alloying metals as stainless or the newer super steels), but it's much tougher in general, not as brittle as some of the harder metals. They don't hold an edge as long (the trade-off) generally, but are a good mix of sharpening, durability & superior toughness.



In the shop yesterday, making 4 steel tables for the bedroom & living room. They're welded now, but will post a few pictures once they're finished & painted. Basic black again, simple design, nothing fancy. Here's a picture. There are 2 small bedside tables & 2 larger ones for the living room to fill in a couple of spots...

Putting in some 4' chain link fence to enclose the yard now. Happy to say I just had to dig 2 holes by hand (end posts for the runs), the rest were done with an auger on a tractor. Best $50 I ever spent for some yard work, took an hour for all of them! The house had 2 sides in place already when we bought it, so we're boxing in the other 2 sides on the house so dogs will be kept in the yard, theoretically. Our son has 3 dogs, so we need a safe place for them to visit as we're too close to the main drag & 45 mph+ speeds in front of the house. Next is concrete & setting the posts, another trip out of town for supplies is in the offing. Nothing here that isn't too expensive, drawbacks of a small town...

The wife and I got up at 05:00 and made a 4.5 hour trip to look at 2015 Riverside RV WhiteWater Retro Jr. 509. The deal was to good to pass on, so we paid the man and drove 4.5 hours home. My wife's the Manager for a Truck & RV Wash so that was our first stop. Did a little more detail cleaning at the house. Previous owner messed up some of the lower rear sheet metal, but everything else looks good. I'll need to address the trim to avoid water getting in, but I think I can patch it up.






We'll be getting things ready for a shakedown run soon, even if it's just out to may parents place on a nearby lake.
