Things that don't fit anywhere else...

You may not want to hear this song.

If you don't like songs that have religious or patriotic overtones, then you don't want to listen to this one. I hope it doesn't violate the forum's rules for posting. I'ts just a song after all, not an editorial.

In March, 2005, this song was performed at a Diamond Rio concert. They received an immediate standing ovation, and continue to do so every time they perform it!

Sadly, some major radio stations wouldn't play it because it was considered politically incorrect. I don't remember hearing it before on the radio.

If this song speaks to your heart and you feel you want to share the link with friends and loved ones, please do.

Turn your sound up and listen.

Good song! It's funny, America was founded by people fleeing religeous and political persecution. America is supposed to be a land where you have freedom of religeon, politics, and speech. God is the cornerstone of justice system, politics, monetary system, and your day to day life.
(Or was....)

Politically incorrect??? I think not.

When you look at why this country became the country it is, is because of God.

Micro 469, double what you said. And as long as there is you and me, forget the "was"!!!

That is a great song. I rank it right up there with Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" :applause: :applause:

That song gave me an idea.

Let's repeal the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution and do away with that annoying separation of church and state once and for all! Then we can establish an evangelical christian theocracy where a handful of religious leaders dictate every aspect of our public and private lives. Isn't that what the founding fathers had in mind all along?

God bless America or get the f*&# out!

I AGREE, TOM!

And if people don't go along, we can first FORCE them to pray--in school, in the workplace, make them feel like they don't "belong" unless we all believe the same!

If they STILL won't go along with the program, we'll call them unpatriotic! We'll also perpetuate the myth that it was the founding fathers' intention to create a "Christian" nation. We also won't tell them that one of the greatest Americans and founding fathers--Benjamin Franklin--was a member of EVERY church in town--for BUSINESS reasons! (Yeah, he was an incredible adulterer, but at least he belonged to all of those churches!)

When is everyone going to understand that anyone can do anything they want--just keep it to yourself. People's rights to religious beliefs and practice END two inches from my ear.
Here we go again!

Oh boy. Let's fan some flames here a little.....

Ira, I'm sorry but you live too far away for me to be of any help.

But Tom, when they are at your door with torches and pitchforks give me a call, I'm just a few miles away. I'll get the ACLU involved too, I'm thinking we'll need it.

(heh...I said ACLU. That oughta get some response)

Well said, It's too bad that we can't all do our own thing without getting everyone else involved.
It's getting to the point where we can't express anything anymore without being criticized for something.
Freedom is our gift and we can say and think what we want. The great thing about it is that I don't have to listen to others views if I don't want to.
All I need to do is to obey the few fundamental laws of society and we should all be happy.

I'm goin' campin'!!

That's the thing, Sub...

Why are Tom and I fanning the flames, but not the song?

We're getting more like the Middle East here every day.

:applause: Boy,
I am not sure if I should take my beliefs and hide in the closet or not. Seems those who might have enjoyed the song so graciously shared by Dale are to be told to shut up and go away.

If you don't like it you are not required to listen.

Our founding fathers intended freedom of religion for anyone who chose, and freedom of speach for all who choose.

Thanks Dale

Why does anyone have to fan flames? I would think that if a bunch of people like the song, then so be it. I won't use this thread to bash people who don't believe like I do. You all are entitiled to your beliefs and I am entitled to mine. I should think that in this country, which is not a theocracy, that we should be free to believe whatever we want without being bashed.

That having been said, Ira, I'd still like to meet you I'm in FL. Lots of people I know believe different than I do. Some of them believe that the sky is blue and that the world is round. Not where I live.

Tom, Ira and others...I am in complete agreement about the mentality in Washington nowadays but why can't Dale make a post in "off topic", a post that has a qualifier init about how some might not like it and then have some, jump in and make comment severely disapproving what he has posted...that is flaming..he didn't demand you listen or agree(quite the opposite)...so keep that in mind when posting...wearing of feelings on shirt sleeves and leaving no room for the other guy is what starts wars...that may be norm in other parts of the world but shouldn't and won't be accepted here...if a person should have a counter song to post then start your own thread, don't hijack anothers for political (or personal)purposes since THAT WOULD BE FLAMING

I just listened to the song again. It sends a clear political message in addition to expressing a religious sentiment. Given the inflammatory nature of religious and political statements on Internet forums, I think everyone has been VERY restrained. Those of us who disagree with the song message attacked the song, not Dale or any of the other people who like the song. I for one, enjoy intelligent debate. It's a testiment to the friendly nature people in this group. On any other forum Dale's post would've ignited a full-blown flame war.

When you post something controversial, it's not unreasonable to expect positive AND negative feedback. The subject line of this thread indicates that Dale knew he was entering into a controversial area. I'm sure he expected some of our coments.

They'll be plenty of time for us to solve the World's problems over martinis, coffee, or cold sodas at North Meet South Rally next week.
