Yep Tony, when I swapped out the axle from our teardrop, no one wanted to pay what it was worth as a "used" axle, so we did our utility trailer with it. That worked well enough for the move to Raton & many trips to different places & hauling things. Nice having a small trailer for hauling with truck beds being so limited now, no more sheets of plywood with the bed closed with the new truck. Hauling 10' steel is a pain as the lengths stick out & need a flag, so the trailer is just easier for long stuff.

Here's an update for the new smoker. Hinges are welded in place & a "few" other things are done as well. Need to get a couple more pieces, but it's basically finished now inside. The heat source is still on the way, a side-located fire box is coming soon...

Little more kinda the same tinkering, things settling down, lost 4 close ones this year

This welder I am very fond of, I bought it new but didn't pay for it, used it for a few months along side several other machines and favored this one over all, after I showed some others why they liked it too, so I didn't go back, didn't like tested air tight 36" pipe anyway
Few years later the big boss walked through said we needed to sell some welders we had to many!
I will buy that one how much Not going to say but if she sells it for what I payed they stole it.

Project kind of works like me around in circles, I am using some of the parts off the project from the boat motor project
Wheels are worn out, needed new ones so lifted it a lot and I like it, & needed a few thing's done that just don't get done.
I am committed, and my little square wave tig is moving out because i don't use it any more & I thought about putting it on the bottom, glad I left that plan out.
Long ways to go but I won't be welding in my shop till spring, Wood chips it is.

Was away for a while last week & this one, our son returned from his 5th deployment in the Middle East so we went up to Colorado for a visit with him & his wife. Here's a bit more progress from work on the smoker, got the fire box & started doing a bit of cutting to get the plumbing setup mocked up.





Wheels are on one end, the other end will have casters, as I have a few left over in the shop.



Next comes the fire box attachment & plumbing for the heat.

OK, it's alive now!

I've been needing a footstool in my shop. So I talked to my Lowrider CNC and ask it to spit one out.



Of course, that quick-ee video is sped up.

Here's a screenshot from Sketchup showing the parts. Slip-fit joinery is a good thing.



Of course, I had to engrave it with the sign of the devil.



I'm pleased with it -– it's light and strong. If I find some wall space, I'll have the machine kick out a bracket to hang it from.

One of my books on rustic woodworking shows a similar stool design, with slip fit joinery, that the author says he adapted from Eastern European dining table stools. Guess they were made on 19th century Czechoslovakian CNC machines!

No the Harbor Freight clamps didn't do it.
