Hey everyone, we are still kicking here. So far have avoided the plague. Too many projects...

But, good news! One of my sons is wanting to build an off road teardrop to pull behind his FJ Cruiser. So, maybe that will help me finish my build. I have to teach him to weld, he thinks he wants to build the trailer. Good thing is that the old man is a welder and is giving him all the equipment... MIG, TIG, stick welder, torch, chop saw, welding table. We will have fun no matter what.

I have recently moved the Lazy T to a tent shed where I hope to work on it this winter. I’m having trouble posting so I will try once more to get a pic uploaded.

I realized I had never seen the trailer without the black tarps since I put it in the ‘workshop’.

So, I took a pic and finished the tarp shed. She is now safe for the winter.

Let's hope this Covid pandemic is under control soon so you can finish your trailer and take some trips!

I'd like to suggest that you get a case of pipe foam insulation.
Its cheap insurance.

If you cover the top bars with insulation the tarp covering will
last a bit longer. The sun normally heats up those bars and
the tarp melts/wears out where it lays on them.

Depending on expected snow fall, you may also want to tie a
tight line from the pipe junctions one side to the other.

Thanks. Good ideas. I did pad the sharp bends at the top center of the walls with some closed cell, stiff foam today. I like the idea of ties between the sides.
I did discover condensation inside today. The gravel I put down was damp as was the ground. So, I think I will open the door during warm, sunny days for a while. It should be sunny for the next few days and in the 40s so that should help dry things out. Otherwise, I’ll have to put in some vents.

I did open up the cut for the trailer tongue and reinforce it today. And I measured a few things in the trailer for planning purposes. Found a BUNCH of neat stuff that I forgot I had purchased. Like Christmas!

New wheels and tires and lots of other things to install yet.

The galley is intended to work with the doors like shown. The cooler will be mounted on the left one and the stove on the right one. The counter top is still not installed.

The galley doors can also open straight out. They will have detent/holders for both positions. The hatch is held just above head high by restraining cords so it won’t cut into the planned awning.

I think the old REO door came out pretty good. There is an aluminum roof that goes on top of the door casing and of course the whole thing will be fiberglassed and sealed in place. There are still no seals on the door and the wiley window must be built. I did find a perfect piece of tempered glass (door for a wood stove replacement part) for the wiley window.

The door can open all the way back like shown or just be at 90 degrees to the cabin. There will be detents for both positions.

That's one of the side benefits of getting older, eh? Christmas sometimes comes 5-6 extra times every year!

I opened the door of the tent to allow some sun drying today. It is about 45 degrees and sunny today. I just went out and did a few things in the trailer and it is 70 degrees in there. Works great. I studied the layout of the little wood stove/water heater and put the aluminum roof back on the entry door casing. It is getting quite cold at night now so I think I will stall longer before I do the fiberglass work. There are other wood cutting projects I can do.
I did figure out that I can cut the bed board (a hollow core door) into pieces that can be lifted out for access to the under bed storage. I will of course reinforce the cut areas.

I keep forgetting to mention this. I am able to get UBC (universal bulk containers) for free. Look at this, this is the frame minus the tank. I think that a bit of cutting and bolting will make a nice roof rack for my trailer.

The tubes are welded together and the base is bolted on. I think I can cut the top rail, in just the right spot and bolt it to the bottom rail. The fork pocket section may or may not be used. The metal base will make a good Safari top too. Shade... in the desert is good.
