Hate to disappont, but "hero gets the girl" in 1979 was walking hand in hand down a Coney Island beach with a pier in the background.
Ah! So it was like a "Road Picture".

More like; Mad max ROAD WARRIOR

Makes me want a couple beer bottles.
A little like Mad Max maybe, but not much.
First Mad Max was probably the best.
Proper low budget Aussie fillum.
One of my favourite lines is when Jim Goose slides the Kawasaki Z1000 cop bike into the side of the old falcon ute.
Bloke leans out the window of the coon and asks what's happening, The Goose goes "I dunno man, I just got here myself".

I sorta didn't believe him until he sent me the photos, thought he was pulling my leg.
In that scene where they discover the fuel tanker is full of sand, he's the guy who pulls the wheelie as they leave.
Wasn't in the script and the producer wrangling the extras cut crook at him for ruining the scene, but the director liked it and left it in.
He also showed me a picture of the wrap party.
Turns out Mel Gibson had a lot of trouble changing gears in the truck and after he broke the gearbox it was all done by a bloke lying on the floor.
So at the wrap party, Colin presented Mel with a gift from the mechanics - the broken gearbox input shaft from the truck. He reckons Mel took it well.
