Amen!
Propex was outstanding performer on this trip (and many other trips).
It sips the fuel once the trailer walls are warmed up (several heating cycles).
By morning the heater turns on much less than the initial effort to heat the interior.
Of course I carry a VERY warm sleeping bag in case something goes wrong with the heat.
I enjoy the luxuries but am prepared if they stop cooperating.

2021 camping is uncertain. New Jersey has a number of campgrounds that are usually open year round. This year with Covid they closed in late Nov and wont reopen till April, But that is not guaranteed. Backpacking is usually still an option along with kayak camping, road bicycling, mountain bike camping etc.

I am hoping for the best and will have outdoor fun one way or another. The only difference between a rut and a groove is my attitude!

2021 camping is uncertain.

We're still hoping for our spring SW trip.

Neat adaptation Cosmo. I just purchased a Hasika screen tent and hope to do some mods with it for a side tent so I can sleep with the doors open in bug season!

If I ever get the chance to go west I am definitely going to review Tony's past threads for places to visit. I have gotten to know the UP and Northern Wisco pretty well and there are gorgeous places to camp, but, I am hoping I can get west to see what it has to offer.

I have a clam, my complaint is that they get too hot in the summer....it would be great if a majority of the screens could be left open....

I really miss my pahaque cottonwood :(

I agree science has not invented the perfect shelter yet. I have to say Clam and the Clam clones becoming the most seen shelter I see when boon docking.

I have 3 of them. They all have no-seeup screening which does cut down the air flow. I think it would be a mistake to get a model that does not have opening windows in my climate for hot weather use in direct sun. The huge Sky model came with many huge zip open windows and a lift off fly on the roof which provide lots more air flow. But even that is a trade off. The removable roof is less wind worthy. When this one was modified I had 3 huge zip open window added for ventilation.

Its tough choice. Close the window and face the heat or open the window and face the bugs. I do take a 12V fan and power it with Jackery solar panel or power station which is enough to keep me cool. If its really hot I will wet my shirt and the fan does the rest. Wetting my shirt hat etc is my most effective way of cooling when temps get into the 90s or more. As an added bonus we have high humidity here. I just slow down whatever I am doing.

Looks like the Pahaque Cottonwood https://www.google.com/search?q=pahaque ... =555&dpr=3 does not offer protection from bugs and horizontal rain. The flat panels on the side would be challenged in the wind I encounter. I do carry a similar 4 leg canopy to cover the kitchen or sit under in winds less than 22 MPH (which is all it can tolerate). I love the open air feel in a gentile rain, We are fortunate to have so many wonderful choices.

Clams (especially the smaller models) stand up to wind, I have seen a Clam Traveler stand up to 47MPH wind. But it does get buffeted a bit. I have been in high wind gusts and the roof had to be pushed back up after wind collapsed it. I have to contrast that with having to take down the 4 leg canopy to prevent it from being destroyed in high wind. Life is a compromise. Enjoy!
