Timbren is seen being used a-lot with the 'off-road' teardrop trailers = seems to be a bit of "overkill" for the 'paved' road crowd. It does seems to be a good 'tryed/trued' system set-up 'but' also just a little costly $$$ when comparted to others (just my opinion.....)

I am looking at that option as well. Two miles of dirt road to the nearest pavement and I anticipate seeing many gravel roads in my travels. Curious if disc brakes are the norm on them or an option. Also can the rubber pads be replaced?

have seen info here on this forum before showing how different rubber inserts can be changed with the Timbren suspension set-ups.

There's a member here known as Capn Telescope. His eardrop has Timbrens and it eats tires. He's mechanically inclined and hasn't been able to get them aligned properly.

Yes, it would be for off-road. the only other option it seems would be to "fabricate" something, and it seems like a better option than getting a 5' wide 2000# axle and moving the spring perches inboard and SOA and then try to fit my 6" backspaced wheels on it with wheel adapters.

The only hubs they have that match my wheels have electric brakes. That's fine, but way more expensive.

Only drums, afaik.

Yes, they sell the rubber spring/pad separately.

Can you update what you find? I was also planning on using these and my trailer is probably going to be a bit heavy. I can definitely see these eating tires if they are overloaded or poorly aligned.

By the way, I am building after hauling a Coleman pop up for 15 years that ate tires because I constantly "overloaded" it. I put it in quotes because I doubt I was ever over its quoted capacity, but because it was probably under engineered if you get what I mean.

Anecdotally, the 2x2 "beam" or cross brace should help with camber/tire wear, especially with a heavily loaded trailer, if the trailer itself doesn't have enough beef. CapnTelesope ended up going to softer springs (2000#, he started with 3500#).

Also, they have a "Tonne" suspension at 2200# that has longer trailing arms for better/softer wheel travel offroad. That is where I'm leaning.

It's crazy that adding the 4" lift spindle brackets and long spindles doubles the price over a no-lift, normal axle. Under $500 with hubs from etrailer if I was building a normal teardrap to $700 with no hubs, so another $250+ for hubs with elec.brakes. There is no idler hub in 5on5.
