Removable Hitch Setup

I'd like to make sure I'm correctly understanding how this removable hitch is set up. I'm using an image of Tony Latham's set up. I've attached an image of how I think this is configured to have a removable hitch.
Am I interpreting this correctly?

Yes but its not just a 2.5 inch tube. Its an actual receiver tube with reinforcement on the open end. They cost about 30 bucks from e trailer.

You might consider having the removable tongue attached at 2 points for safety measures and to silence tongue rattle when traveling.
I put a locking pin where the two pieces of pipe are located and a grade 8 bolt up front that stops the rattle.
I made this cover to discourage anyone from messing with it, to try and steal the teardrop when the tongue is with us in the tow vehicle.
It also helps our shins if we brush against it.
