I’m not worried about a negative vacuum. I always have a window open even in winter so the air supply won’t be depleted.featherliteCT1 wrote:I really like my diesel heater and hope you will enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. Just a couple of observations:
1. My understanding from reading the Chinese diesel heater forums is that, if intake combustion air is sucked from inside the trailer, rather than from the outside, a vacuum of negative pressure can be created inside the trailer. Then, if the heater ever malfunctions, exhaust gases can leak into the trailer. I think John McK also talks about this issue and explains the different ways the unit can malfunction. If you are not already familiar with John McK, below is the link to his multi part series. I highly recommend this series.
Some people place a removeable cover over the inlet pipe to keep out bugs and debris. Same with the exhaust.

2. Also, it is recommended that the fuel tank be mounted below the fuel pump. If the fuel pump malfunctions, fuel can then pour through the pump and flood the inside of the heater. Perhaps that issue could easily be solved by putting a shut off valve upstream, between the pump and the fuel tank.
