stretched luan will it need more?

so I have my skeleton stretched and cut out. my next step is to ass the 1/4 luan on the outside by gluing it onto the skin.

the problem is Im not sure what to do about the seam. there will have to be a 2ft portion at the back to make it 10 ft. I will be skinning the trailer with filon .

my question is Do I just put extra titebond 3 along the seam and call it good or do I need to do something else?

I can give 4 tips. You may consider the seam along a door opening so the seam is not as long.
Small boats longer than 8' use another ~6" piece of ply over the butt joint. (Looks like this is what is going to happen.)
Another strong way is to use fiberglass tape over the butt joint.
Scarf joints are the most sophisticated solution. It is more difficult than a butt joint.

Others will have dealt with extending plywood and will have favorite methods.

I just looked at your skeleton and it seems, the skin seam will be backed up by the skeleton. Maybe smooth some caulk over the outer seam to seal it.

30dayreviews, w/ the skeletal joint ahead of your door i might suggest placing your seam on the aft edge of the door opening which would provide the least possibility of issues

that would automatically provide a reasonably good butt joint backing butt block

on the outside i'd suggest using H. H. "Dynamite" Payson's method to hide the seam AND reinforce it

when hollowing the underlayment out try knot to go thru the entire thickness(2/3)

once a layer of cloth is in place make sure it is totally saturated

hand block sand to surface level

I should have mentioned the joint will be set to the back for both the inner and outer plys. so strength should not be an issue as it will be backed with the 3/4th ply

I should have mentioned that the seam will end up being on the back end of the trailer where it is backed by 3/4 ply completely. not sure I need to hide the seam as there will be filon on the outside of it so its not going to be visible. guess my main consirn is with any moisture that might get into is over time.. hopefully no time soon.
