There they are. Just getting them ready for pairing. 510 aH useable at 94lbs which is better than 8 GC2 golf car batteries at 448 lbs.

Just love the newer technology that is now affordable for the DIY'r. This setup as I bought it and built it cost me about $150 more ( maybe less since I did not add in tax or core charges) than 8 GC2s at Sam's would be and will last 5x longer with no maintainance and charge significantly more efficient making best use of solar. Nevermind I'd have no room or would want to take the weight hit for the SLA batteries in this 6x12 or my 7x18 for that matter.

Can't wait to see what technology is next. Probably will be lighter, smaller, and more capacity again!

How many watts of solar are you going with?

Gulfcoast, I have 2 210 watt panels for 420W total. Using a 30A MPPT controller in the 24V configuration.

I have more real-estate on the roof up front for a few more 100W panels. If I think I can use them, I may add them later on with a separate 20A controller. I like to have separate systems for redundancy in case I have a controller fail. This is primarily because I need to make sure the fridge always has power.

Onehoser, thanks.

Lol.. thanks. Goal is to be able to run the A/C overnight in a parking lot when I am on the road with enough margin to keep the fridge and etc. going as well while it recharges. Should do it.

The wires I added to the inverter do trigger the relay, so now I just need to run wires to a switch inside the cabin and I will be able to turn on the inverter remotely. I am putting the transfer switch inside as well along with all monitors, so I should not need to open doors and go onto electrical area unless I am having a problem.

Image

This is where the big fuses are 250A for battery and 150A for inverter. I may be replacing the ANL for some higher end DC breakers. I do not like how hot they get when running 1500W inverter at max. That would be a rare load, but I still don't like it. I just had these in my cabinet, so I used them. The 80A breaker is just to protect the wire to the DC fuse panel. I like the breaker because I can disconnect just that while working on the other wired. If I need more than that, I have the main disconnect in view next to fuses.

The BMS will protect each battery at 150A for 300 total. I should never see a load close to that, so if I did, that would mean a good short on the buss bar and I'd want to protect the wiring. The BMS should protect the batteries.

Just have to connect the Converter, Solar Controller and the DC to DC charger to the bus bars and then I will hook up the 110VAC side of the power system.

I also need to build a strap to tie down the batteries. I have a thick rubber mat to set them on and then I will strap them down. I don't want them bouncing around on those rough roads.

Going to put it on hold for a few days. Going camping with the other CTC. Lex and my wife will be onboard for this trip.
