"point of the mtn" is a nice test for 2ed. hand tow vehicles. Glad it happened for you
that close to home and your Dad was there for ya. Would have been a true problem
closer to the Lake. Glad it all worked in your favor.

New hoses are on. Went over "point of the mountain". Did well. Hung out at Cabellas, grabbed some garlic power bait.
Ready for the saltflats.

Wrong time of season but ive been "prepping" for the wood stove install.
In June we recieved our Dickinson solid fuel wood stove.


A few weeks ago I made the heat shield and mount out of a thick sheet of diamond plate I had left over.
Mostly mounted to the beams in the door but used 2 "jack nuts" where it had to go into the wood.
Its spaced a 1/2" out for an air gap.
Stove will also be spaced another 1/2" .




Stove isnt mounted yet. I have the piping all worked out so I just need to drill the holes.

New upper and lower hoses installed and all air burped out.
So I took the truck on a "trust building exersize" to the salt flats for World of Speed.
Did great and didnt leak a drop of oil on the salt.
It was nice to drive through the wind and stay at 65mph.
Lots of Dakotas here. Even the officials drive em.

We lost our best friend Max Thursday evening. The best camping buddy of all time. Had him 11 year's. So many good times.

Here's a few pics of the Dickinson wood stove install.
I used the 22" single pipe coming up from the stove attached to pellet stove (double wall) elbow .

((Yes single wall can go into double wall but not vise versa))

The elbow goes through the door attached to a Tee with a cleanout, then to a 24" section of double wall.
That's 5+ feet of pipe.
It calls for 4 at the minimum.


I modified the top stove bracket for quick assembly/removal.


After mock-up and outside testing, I cut back the wood in the door another 1/2" and used some hi-temp tape
(Up to 400°) to wrap the edge then put the wall thimble back on. Also grabbed some exhaust wrap to add extra insurance going through the door but that didn't work out. PITA to assemble the two pieces and try to wrap it through the door.


Went back to autozoo and grabbed the starter shield.
Cut it down and sewed it up using fire resistant thread at work.
This installed much easier.

Next was the outside. I needed a way to hold the pipe in place during high winds and be quickly removable.
So I came up with this. Using a strap from a fire extinguisher mount and a 3/4" conduit strap.
Holds it firmly.




All mocked up and ready to camp.

This last weekend we went camping.
Took the truck over Parleys canyon and it did great.


Tested the wood stove officially . Nice and warm inside. Didn't have any issues with the elbow and held a draft just fine with a side window cracked open.
Also tried out a lil 13/1500w electric heater we received as a Xmas gift years ago and didn't think much of but, it did better than expected.

Even tried out pellets.
Those burn nice and clean.


Did some fishing and explored during a rainy day.

Went to Smith and Morehouse res, looked like it had recently snowed.
Lots of hunters.


One thing I didnt think of when getting a truck was the tailgate clearance from the jack.
It barely cleared.

Looks good.... I just installed a new vented propane heater this week. The 3" double wall vent goes straight up through the roof. Nice and warm with no fumes inside.

Thanks Gulfcoast. Need some build pics in your thread. I'd like to see your heater setup.

I forgot to add pics on how I burn pellets. I decided to add a cup to hold the pellets since they may fall through the base plate.
I could have put a screen on the bottom but this is much easier. I removed the lid and just scoop it up.





A 1/4 cup burns for a 1/2 hr and the fan keeps going for another half hour.
