Yep, that was the plan until I ran into a conundrum. I don't know how to approach connecting them in 16S config, balance them and then rip them apart to re-config them to 4S4P. I guess since I am not moving them around during the process maybe I can connect them without the plastic holders. They are the flat top/bottom cells. It'd be simple if they were threaded.

I asked for some advice on the diysolarforum site. My experience there is I'll get a dozen answers that really don't help me. Those folks know their stuff, but, at my knowledge level I don't know how to communicate with some of them... if you catch my drift!

Edit: found an answer on youtube. Might try this...

edge, Looks like a really nice area to be. Enjoy it
Weather here is starting to come around, almost nice enough to camp, but still have a lot of high and lows in our temps. Mid 80's F, then dropping down to low 30's even in the teens a couple nights or mornings. Hopefully another week or two it will level out.
Until then, we still have a few things to do around home.
Stay safe, David

I built a 48V 1000W 20aH e-Bike out of an old mountain bike I had and a kit I got off Amazon. Goes 30 mph (seems real fast on a bike) and supposedly will go 30 miles or more depending on if I pedal assist.

I went 11 miles today testing it out, and only used 1 bar of 4 according to digital display.

Mounted the 48V LiFePo4 battery in the motorcycle tank bag on the luggage rack which I added for that. It has some extra room in the back for a few small items. I keep the charger in there also. I can just un snap a few clips to remove the bag after disconnecting the Anderson Connector on the battery cable I fabricated. The battery costed more to build than the motor and etc.. so I wanted to be able to quick disconnect and take it with me if I leave the bike somewhere.

The controller is in the bag on the frame. I bundled all the wires neatly into a harness which I run along the frame. Only problem I had was mounting the crank sensor for the pedal assist, but I was able to modify a large flat washer to make a shim. Seems to work.

I have a 48V to USB adapter coming so I can charge my cellphone and night lighting (also on the way) from the drive battery.

Fun!

Very cool.

I've been looking for a small ebike that my wife can ride while I walk the dog. She needs left hand controls (brakes and throttle) and every place I've inquired about that requirement has turned me away. I found after market left hand throttles for ebikes but I'm afraid to commit as the ebike dealers don't want to talk about modifying their controls.

I did the same thing with a couple of bikes that had been hanging in the garage for years. We like them so much we're building the camper van around them. And yeah, 30 on a bike is fast!

You need a better shop. My Bafang conversion kit has the throttle and range selector on the left.

Built my wife's e-Bike today. Same specs as mine, except, I bought her a 7 speed cruiser as the platform. Was able to use the front tire off the new bike on the motorized wheel. She's very happy with it, so that is good.

Was a beautiful day out, so was time to start doing things outside more.
Couple months ago, an RV moved out off the land where we live with ours.
The person had made a deck for theirs, 8' X 8', about 6 months before moving out. Well needless to say they left the deck.
It was given to us to try and use. We accepted it.
Today we worked on taking it apart to repurpose the wood for our deck. Took us most of the day and hundreds of screws later. All the wood is in the utility trailer we have.

168571 168570

Big surprise when we started taking it apart. The 4" x 4" posts are treated and will work to make another deck. But the 2" x 4" framing is spf #2 material. And it was all 2" x 4"'s. Nothing bigger for any of the framing. lol
Well at least we got the 4" x 4" posts and a couple hundred torx deck screws out of it.
Stay safe, David

Nice! Thanks for sharing the video. And nice job on the bike conversion. I have an old Trek hybrid bike I'd like to try converting.... maybe my next project.

I can't resist and I have to post photos of our ebikes too. The first one I converted was my wife's Trek that she bought while she was in college. A very early mountain bike but she still likes it. I figured I wouldn't be out much bike if we didn't like the conversion. I used a 750W Bafang mid drive kit and a 48V, 13ah battery for both bikes.

Image

(And yes I know, the battery is mounted upside down.) I rode it around the block and knew I'd have to convert mine too. It's a Schwin Homegrown full suspension so the battery mount is a bit creative.

After that came a bunch of parts upgrades, these things are addictive!

Nice.. I like them!

Yes, have to be creative mounting batteries and controller depending on frame setup. I knew the 48V 20aH battery would have to go on a luggage rack of some sort on both bikes. Down tube just not in a good spot for that. I was able to use the bag in the kit for the controllers in any case.

I think we will enjoy the eBikes!

Anyone have a link to a kit. My wife really would like one but we figured $1500 for a ebike is out. We both have decent mountain bikes that would be ideal to convert.
