Still plugging away at the insulation and the foil taping..
The funny is, it's 97 degrees outside, inside the trailer it's 102, and I'm insulating the trailer.
I know it will help, with the heat and the cold..



Got all the foam insulation in around the top where the rvlovent fan goes, was on such a roll, I forgot to install the board to mount the fan too.

so had to cut some of the foam back out for the double 3/4" board mount for the fan.

While I was at it, went ahead and cut the hole for the fan. tried it in the hole, it fit, and taped it in temporarily..
No rain for the next 2 days so good there. At least with it open 3 inches it will let the heat out that's been building up inside.

When I'm ready to install the fan, will clean the top really good. Use butyl tape on the flange that sets on the metal roof. Use the metal screws that came with the fan. Tighten but not over tight. then 3 or 4 days tighten a little more. The butyl will have softened up by then and squeeze out a little sealing it really well along the edges.
If there are no dips in the roof around the fan, I will seal around the fan with 100% silicone. If any dips I will seal with Dicor leveling caulk.

Insulation is looking nice. That fan will help a ton with the heat, as will the insulation. When I was putting in my fresh water inlet it was around 10am in Michigan. I cut through the plywood and insulation on the inside of the trailer and accidentally touched the inside of the aluminum outer skin. Very nearly burnt myself. Crazy how hot that aluminum skin got in the morning sun. A friend was telling me that the trailer mfgs are starting to put the equivalent of ridge vents on trailers that will be insulated.

Insulation is going good. Time consuming but not hard. Following flboy (Don's) direction. Insulate then aluminum tape all the seams.
That fan helped for sure. Temporarily, I set my battery box and battery up on the tongue. Charger can maintain the battery at 3amps. Did a quick wiring job for the fan and ran it all day yesterday and last night. Should be cooler in there today. Dropped it 8 degrees in the trailer with the air circulation yesterday.
It would help if it wasn't sitting in the direct sun most of the day.

I found out that in the summer down here that one inch of Polyiso board insulation is not enough in the ceiling. It's easy to see that the ceiling is still hot to the touch with one inch. So, now to add another inch and see how that feels.

I noticed the same thing today with the 1".. I still have another layer to put in the ceiling.. 3/4" between the furring strips the 1/8" plywood ceiling panels will be fastened to.
So when I'm done I will have 1", 1/4" air space where my electrical will run. Then 3/4" more insulation between furring strips.

Just finished installing the RVlovent Fan this evening.



Damn, I'm not as young as I used to be. Where did 28 get off to? Up the ladder, down the ladder..repeat.
Well it's done, butyl tape sealed it up really good..

Today was a special day for us. Was able to order several things from the big blue box..
They had everything, and was able to pick it all up this afternoon.

Ordered some more of the revolution ply 5mm x 4 x 8,, It's what's going on the ceiling after all the insulation and wiring is finished..

Wiring nitemare, for some maybe. I think I understand it all..



While working on the insulation. Finishing it up.. with the final 3/4" layer.. between furring strips...



I started coating the first sheet of plywood, insulate between coats drying.

Here it is with 2 coats of polyurethane cut 50% thinner.. Sure made the grain and red pop out

I've been using these connectors for my wiring:

Fast, easy terminations and the connector has a mounting tab so you can screw it to a flat surface. It makes it super easy to change things out too, especially if you move stuff around a lot like I do. I wouldn't use them for 120V or high current DC loads (10A @ 12V is the most I load them to) but for small DC loads they're great.

nope, no 2x4's or added 3/4" except what was already in the floor.
I want to stay light so I can pull it with the old Dodge pickup.
Staying light on the cabinets too when I make them.
They will be frame and panel sides using the 5mm revolution ply as the side panels.
Will be a different look but should be nice.

You're last update on the van was April, about adding the panels on the roof.
Where's the updates man?
Just because I changed to CTC, doesn't mean I'm not watching yours.

I'll have some questions for you, when I do my solar panels for sure..
