M&M's Droppie

Postby TallGuy7 » Mon Jun 06, 2022 10:30 am

I hoped for better weather, but it has been raining the entire weekend. So i had to change plans and work inside the tent.

I painted the interior of the teardrop.

Then I started with the waterpump and electrics.

Today I continued with the build. The weather was awful again so I had to improvise.

Worked on the roof…

Happy with the progress, but with better weather the roof and electrics would be finished.

The build is paused because I am going to Rome the next weekend…

Making good progress despite the weather.
I'll be done when I'm finished, if that's not fast enough, take a number.

What is your counter top martial or is that a state secret.

No secret, it is anodized aluminum sheeting that I had cut to size.

The protective foil is still in place.

That's something I haven't gotten close to figuring out. Aluminum, wood, composite, laminate, epoxy.

Today I finished some tasks I do not like. I put in the backing (don’t know if thats correct) on top of the headliner.

Also managed to put in all the wiring for the trailer lights, the 12v and 230v wiring.

Then it was time to put in the insulation.
Unfortunately it started to rain so I had to move everything inside. Tomorrow the build continues.

Damn.

What will you sheath the sides with?

M&M's Droppie

The sides will be sheathed with 3-4mm (1/8 - 5/32) Dibond. Not sure about the colour but that will be sorted out soon enough. In the colour Aluminum, anthracite and platina the sheets are available in a size big enough for the entire wall.

The roof will be covered with 4mm (5/32) okoume covered with 1.5mm (1/16) reinforced polyester plating. Unfortunately this is only available in gloss white but I can always paint it in the same colour as the walls. The front 100cm of the teardrop will be covered with 1.5mm (1/16) diamond plating.

Finished insulating and sheeting the teardrop. Now its time to install all the electrical outlets.

When that’s finished its time for the dreaded task of building the hatch.

Motivation for the build is hard to find since the delivery of the doors was postponed. Also have to admit that electrical work is not my favorite thing to do. Today I told myself to get my act together and start working on the TD again.

Image
Image
Electrics in the garage….

Image
Electrics and usb charging in the cabin.

ImageSome ‘meat’ to attach the lights to the wall was added.

Image
Fixed a screw up on the ceiling… then its time for paint.

Happy with this progress but still a lot to do. But now I can start with electrics in the galley.

M&M's Droppie

Postby TallGuy7 » Sun Jul 24, 2022 2:16 pm

Today I was finally able to do some work on the teardrop. I had been thinking about how to build the hatch for weeks now and decided it was time to execute the feared build of the hatch…

First I had to correct a mistake on the beam the hinge will mount to. It did not have the correct angle so I put my router to work and fixed it. Now I could start….

Image
Image

I decided to fabricate I-beams from a sheet of plywood I never used.
Image
Image

I then tore it all apart and glued everything in. I used extra bars to clamp the I-beams against to keep them straight wile the glue sets.

Image
Image

This will be it for now… of to the south of France fo a long overdue vacation!

Nice it's looking good. Good thinking on the bracing for glue up.
