I talked it over with the missus.
Given I went gate/fence/house building for a while, and ran cabes for my son, she reckons 800 hours.
So if I get my asking price, I reckon $8 per hour. :)

Congratulations on being "done". It is a fine camper!

Someday I'll be able to say the same thing... just not today. Tomorrow doesn't look good either.

The little trailer has come home for a visit.
The lady owner decided she'd like to splurge on Aussie Traveller doors.
I'm pleased to say my door cut outs accept the new doors perfectly.
#3 son and I cut the door jambs out yesterday. Rough cut with jigsaw, followed by trimmer bit in the router.
Trial fit was perfect.

Got one port hole transferred from the door to the cabin wall today.
It's just after 3 pm. Reckon I might get the other one done before I knock off for the day.

You know how they say no good deed goes unpunished?
Yep. I agreed to fit the lady's new doors for a very small sum considering the time it was likely to take.
Then they called and wanted the portholes taken out of the old doors and fitted to the trailer, to which I reluctantly agreed.
So, I've fitted one and made a start on the other.
Now, the husband has called and said he wants the doors fitted "suicide style".
i.e. with the hinges toward the rear so the doors open backwards.
This is so the glass door doesn't obstruct the view out of the port holes if they are lying in bed with the doors open.
I just sent them a picture of what will happen if the doors open backwards.
They will hit the mudguards. Pretty sure they would hit the tyre if there was no mudguard.
I find my mood somewhat deflated.
It's hard to do good work if you disagree with the goal of that work.

Wow, think of how much damage the doors will cause if the come open at highway speeds.

Yes. I desperately combed through VSB1, the summary sheet that lays out the rules for trailers under 4.5t.
Caravan doors must be on the passenger side (left side in Oz), can only open outwards, etc. No prohibition against rear hinges.
Looked on the website of a major caravan maunufacturer, their "rules about doors" video has a caravan with a rear hinged door on it.

I'd be strongly tempted to have them sign a liability release, just in case.

Job done.
I took a while, and probably undercharged, but I do like to think it came out OK.

The lady owner and her husband came over from Iron Knob to collect the trailer yesterday.
I showed them how the locks work but forgot to show them how to separate the glass door from the screen door.
They immediately set off for an overnighter in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
She brought a little pot of paint with her to do the touching up while they are camped.
She says she's happy with the work.
