Could you recommend any reliable suppliers?

I recently came across a discussion on another RV forum mentioning that many RV doors and storage compartments, including those on teardrops, often come from the factory keyed alike. This revelation has me pondering the security of my own older Little Guy teardrop. To those with more experience in the teardrop community, have you found this to be the case? Moreover, for those who have undertaken upgrades, could you recommend any reliable suppliers or tips for replacing the locks on teardrop RV doors and storage compartments? Appreciate any guidance you can offer!

To a thief, a locked door means there's something of value inside. You can open any teardrop door with a big screwdriver. I never lock ours because they'll do more damage to the door than the value of a couple of Kindles.

What do you have inside of value? Those doors will cost at least $800 to replace.

Tony is right on this.Trouble is some thiefs are so strung out they will break an unlocked door.

Here's a tip... put a radio or some sort of sound system inside the cabin. Simple as a cheap Bluetooth speaker and a source for the music (an old phone comes to mind). If you go on a hike or to the showers or wherever, turn on some music at a volume that you can hear ten or twenty feet away from the teardrop. Most of the folks bold enough to break into or look into your cabin will be deterred thinking someone is in there taking a nap or reading or... Then there's the really bold ones that you can never protect your gear from so take the previous advice and leave the door unlocked.

Drew Hanson (playing with sticks on youtube) has a video about security of your teardrop. Take a look. I'm impressed with how well his suggestions are thought out. The one that really caught my attention is if you are a gun toting fan don't put NRA stickers or other signs that may make someone think there might be a gun to steal in there. Instead put stickers or signs that define you as an outdoors person with Trout Unlimited or Duck's Unlimited or the like. And while you're at it make a contribution to one of those, or another conservation organization, and get their authentic stickers. Instead of spending money on re-keying doors and storage compartments.

I replaced my CH751 keyed baggage door locks with a combination lock.

That being said, I rarely lock them as Tony said, tearing the door open costs more to fix than anything a thief would take. When I do lock them it's in high traffic areas like the grocery store. Just trying to keep honest people honest; there's nothing that keeps dishonest people out.

Yep! Also, in a grocery store, gas station, or busy campground <yuck!> (which I know Tony avoids), there are others around who might notice someone breaking in. The thought might deter some crooks. I don't know.

Our cabin was broken into many years ago by just such an @$$ hole. Idiot left sneaker marks on the door's window trying to impress his accomplices by high kicking to break it (which it didn't). Meanwhile the door was unlocked. He eventually solved the problem by using a stick of fire wood to break the $800 glass on the sliding door down the porch. When caught (he wore size 12 sneakers, guess how the police knew that), he had to pay reparations, including for that window.
