Would you mind telling us about your mud flaps in the picture below?

I hot-glued them together with my welder.

It's just a piece of 1" x .125 angle welded to a small piece of square (2"?) tubing that fits over the stinger. I've got a 3/8" nut welded to that so I can lock it in place with a bolt. If I were to do it again, I would use 1.5" angle.

I don't recall where I got the mud flaps, but they are bolted to the angle, and there's some aluminum strap that acts more or less as a 2' washer.



That's about the only photo I have. They work well and are cheap to build.

No! My trailer frame is 2" deep. I've looked for a bottle opener that will fit without any luck. You set a bar I can't reach.

I'm not familiar enough with the process and don't (yet) own a 3D printer. Isn't strength of the final product dependent on the print medium you use? How does that work in practice, as opposed to in theory?

True, but I don't think any of the filaments will produce the strength a bottle opener needs. I find it phenomenal that I can quickly design something in Sketchup, send it to my printer, and have the thing after it's printed. But I don't see a bottle opener working.

A quick look at google also seems to show some forms of metal bottle opener that are meant to be used with wood frames around them. Maybe plastic (3D printed) would work as well, as long as you have the metal piece that contacts the bottle cap.

In the event a bottle shows up in our camp, our wine-bottle opener has a church key. I'm just pleased that y'all were concerned for my campability.

My Dad had the type of church key (I learned that term from him, at an early age) that had a bottle opener on one side and a pointy end on the other. Beer cans didn't come with pull tabs in those days. Sometimes, he would let me take a sip of his beer. But I always wondered why he kept the beer opener in the station wagon's tool box. Wasn't until I was a bit older that I learned you could use that pointy end to open oil cans too!

Dad drank more beer than that car did oil, but it was close.
