OK, someone's gotta ask, what do you do with the blood worms?
Tom
Nothing yet, because I still haven't caught any!
The story is this:
Bloodworms are sea worms that live in the sand
Each year, in July and sometimes Jun and August, they spawn.
Three nights after the new moon in July, they come out to spawn, then drift out to sea on the outgoing tide at night.
They die after this, I think.
Anyway, keen fishermen head out late at night with their spotlights and their little long handled dab nets and scoop them up as they drift along.
They then preserve them for fish bait. A properly preserved blood worm is irresistible to many a species of fish.
Its one of those gunna-do things. i.e. I'm gunna do that one day.
So this week, I went out after the high tide looking for the little buggers.
Found nothing the first two nights, then had a brainwave. I called my mate who is the champeenest hunter gatherer I know.
He set me straight. I found some last night by following his directions but, as he predicted, not very many as it is now too late after the new moon.
Wasn't a big enough catch to bother with, so I let them go and came home, through that awesome fog.
So, I have learned, I have acquired the little long handled scoop nets. I'm all set for next year.

P.S. in that picture of the Smelter, you would normally see the lights of the entire city behind the plant. The fog was just rolling in when I saw it, and had to photograph it. The whole plant with nothing behind it made for an awesome picture. By the time I got back to the boat ramp, I could not see the smelter at all. Not a light. The fog completely obscured it, and the ramp is only a few hundred metres from the plant.
