Finally got the ceiling insulated and installed the lighter cedar planks (tongue and groove). I used some extra ceiling wood, milled it down, and am trimming out the ceiling line, windows and door. I think it adds a nice touch.

I finished the interior cabinet. I used a piece of the piano hinge I salvaged from the old trailer to make the access door for the fridge. It'll be nice to just open that when we want to get something out of the fridge. Was very happy it cleared my lights.

With the interior about 98% complete, I couldn't resist putting in the mattress. Even though I measured many, many times, I was thrilled that it fit width wise. It's a 6", tri-fold, mattress.

Thank you, it's been a LOT of fun to build. Don't tell my wife, but I hope to make another one, haha.

I'll likely never have a "cabin up north." So, this is my chance to have a little of the coziness. Thanks!

Who needs a stationary cabin, when you can have one anywhere you stop?

What a great point of view. As a backpacker I wholeheartedly agree. In fact this trailer was largely built for my goal of hiking/backpacking all of the North Country Trail in Michigan. I can’t wait to come back to this trailer as a respite for my weary body, and in new locations every time!

We've been doing long distance vehicle based camping for years now. Even my wife has her own rig at this point. Towing a bed behind us that requires zero actual setup time makes life MUCH easier when moving everyday, which we do pretty regularly.

You've done a beautiful job with your build.

Looks great!

BTW, even cabins (usually) have property and school taxes associated with them. $>

I sincerely appreciate that! It’ll be nice to not pitch a tent and blow up a mattress, roll out a sleeping bag every night. I enjoy backpacking but this will make it a little easier.

Curious to hear your feedback and "lessons" on the PMF...

Hey RBB! My trailer was a bit too heavy to “rotate” to work on horizontal surfaces, so I did finish the sides vertically and there are some wrinkles. Since this is home built we’re okay with the imperfections. . I did not iron the fabric much, but if someone wanted a very smooth surface it could happen with PMF. I’d also consider applying the PMF on the walls before installing them on the trailer so they could be smoother without wrinkles. But, overall, super happy with the function of the finished exterior.
