We went to Quartzite last year to see the big RV show. Both of us got sick when we were there and turned around and came home after a day. What we learned:

There are a LOT of people there during the RV show
It's definitely worth seeing once but I doubt we'll go back.
Plenty of camping available, even during the show.
$40 for a 2 weeks pass on the BLM campsites about a mile south of town.
Dump stations and porta potties available at the BLM sites.
We didn't see any product that was truly awesome at the RV show.
Tons of grey hair at the show (including us).
The RV show is about big class A and 5th wheel campers. Didn't see a single van.

This is what the BLM campgrounds all look like:

Thanks.. I was there 2 years ago and agree in general. I will be staying well away from everyone, but will venture into town for the big tent, flea market, and supplies as needed. Not paying for camping is my basic goal. Will only be there about 5 days before I head towards Parker, then Lake Havasu and etc.. .

It is interesting cruising around on the motorcycle checking out all the campers and etc... I like to watch people but camp well away from it all . Alot of homelessness and etc . out there proposed as "freedom"..

Had some small pieces of wood hanging around so I built a small shelf for the CTC bathroom. Nice improvement. Can always use more storage in the small trailer.

The larger trailer (7x18 V-nose) is not so much off-road and I am usually with my wife and in places with it where I can find a dump station. With the little CTC (6x12), I built it with extended boondocking in mind and didn't want to deal with having a black water tank fill up and need dumping somewhere.

With the portable toilet, I use the the tank for just pee (#1). I put a bag in it for #2. I can put the bag in the trash to be dumped. #1 takes a long time to fill, but can be dumped via the cassette in any vault toilet, rest area toilet, dump station, etc..

The porcelain flushing toilet is so much nicer to use and almost a requirement for my wife, but it requires dumping at a dump station every 5 days or so with 2 people. Portable toilet, I don't worry about the need to dump. Much more convenient. Also, when I have the 6x12 CTC out, my wife is not with me. It is the trailer I take solo.

I did leave real estate under the toilet in the 6*12 CTC for a blackwater tank if I ever change my mind, but I don't think I'll ever change it up. If I do anything, it will probably be for a composting toilet for the same reasons.

Hope this helps you

Thank you and it definitely helps to get advice from someone who's been there and done that.

I think a portable would work in my situation. I have a 6 month old baby, so cleaning the portable should be easy compared to diapers. If I camp, it would be at a motocross for 2 nights at the most. I'd like to have a real toilet, but I don't know how much it would get used to make it worth the trouble. I use my trailer once a week for quick day trips to the track, I'd just like the option to camp if I want too.

I'm wondering about grey tanks now. Maybe I plumb my drains to go to a portable grey tank. I know draining grey water onto the ground is frowned upon. I'll be at a MX track with everyone power washing bikes right next to the rigs.

I made it out to Quartzsite on Thursday last week. Would have been here on Wednesday, but I ran into that Winter Storm outside of Houston on I-10 and had to wait out some Ice on the Highway.

Having a great time out past where most would go. Rode some washes today on the KTM... Still got it!

A picture of my camp. All systems working well!

No problems so far, but I am only staying about 4 days in a location before I move on. I understand it is a "thing" out here in the desert.

Moved on to some BLM land near Parker AZ for a few days now up on som BLM land near Lake Havasu City. Awesome riding. Definitely needed the 3 Axis hitch and 4wd for this location. Even got a stick through the sidewall of the CTC tire. Was able to plug it and have one one order to get installed in town when I leave here. I really like this CTC. So versatile and I am comfortable in it. Heading up towards Grand Canyon next week. Will be testing the 4 season capabilities for sure.

Photos do no justice to the real view. You'd like it.

Making my way back to Florida after 6 weeks out in Arizona and New Mexico deserts and mountains. Had the CTC in some nice Remote places on Lake Meade and various National Forests and BLM lands.

I can travel the Country, but nothing feels better than just being home after being away for a while..... and not to mention it is much easier living in 2,300 sq. ft, than it is living in 72sq ft. with a dog and motorcycle. LOL

I’m so glad I found your build. I have a 6x12 CTC too and have a few questions on your motorcycle setup. Since I put in a Murphy bed in a north south direction I want to load my bike backwards too. This should allow me to put the bed down with the bike in the trailer. Since the bike is 425lb wet walking it in backwards is not really doable. So I was thinking about a winch setup. And here is your build! :applause:

Can you share more details on the motorcycle mounting and restraints plus details on the winch? I think I have the same HF winch in my garage somewhere. I see the E track for the wheel chock. How is that owing for you? Is the raised E track a toe hazard? Would you use recessed hold downs or L track mounts for the hold downs if you did it again? I saw a guide or something under the front wheel. What is that? Do you have a video of bike loading?
