Please Think of me this weekend 8/18

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Nunleys- was on Sunrise Hwy - right by the border of Freeport and Baldwin (it was next door to Freeport High School) It had the greatest carousel - a old one that had the brass rings - get a free ride. Not a big place but a fun place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Ira - where in Bladwin did your aunt live? I was on Kings Parkway - north Baldwin. And my Mom was in charge of the cafeterias in the High School and Jr Highs.
Bob-

Yeah - White Castle - Belly Bombs - great place to get late night food. Also we would go to Oceanside to Nathans for a couple of hot dogs and great fries.....................

Where in Baldwin did your sister live?

Bill

Gee - now I am going to have to get some real bagels, real pizza and nathans

Man, this is all driving me nuts now!

I sure as heck remember that carousel at Nunley's--it was the ONLY carousel I've ever seen in my life that actually had that brass ring thing. (It was indoors, right?)

My aunt and uncle are both dead, but I can ask my mom exactly where they were in Baldwin, or I can ask my cousins.

And Nathans--of COURSE! I think that Oceanaide may have been Nathan's second location, after Coney Island.

In the 70s, I also went to a club called OBI (Oak Beach Inn) in or near Oceanside , which I'm SURE you're familiar witrh. There were a few OBIs on Long Island, but I mainly went to the one in/near Oceanside.
Here we go again!

 Bill; I remember Nathan's so well, besides growing up in the Coney Island location, enjoying the great food, and of course the rides, especially the Steeplechase (hope that doesn't age me too much).
Everytime we went to NY, we brought back dozens of bagels to freeze, I always had to stop at a good pizza shop too.

Ira:  OBI, how it brings back memories!! That was the first place I took my future wife on an official date, the first one to the beach (Long Beach) didn't count. I fell in love with her after that, now 31 years later, oh what a life. Just celebrated the big 31 in May. It seems like yesterday, when we talk about it!!
I don't remember my sisters street in Baldwin, but it will come back to me, some day!!
